We, at Box Office India, were the first to tell you that Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor had been signed by Dharma Productions for Shaad Ali's next, a remake of Mani Ratnam's O Kadhal Kanmani. The film is all set to start rolling in March. The makers are waiting for Shraddha Kapoor to wrap Baaghi and Aditya Roy Kapur to finish the promotions of Fitoor.

The remake of O Kadhal Kanmani, which means the love of my eyes' in Tamil has been titled Ok Jaanu!. The leading pair will be seen together after the success of Aashiqui 2. Ali, who is busy with pre-production of the film, will soon be heading to Delhi, where the film will be shot.

Such a lame title.🤢 Couldn't they come up with something ummm less cheesy? Seriously sounds like some cheap B grade movie. 🤢 chalo I still want to see ARk and Shradha pair once again.

Bollywood doesn't deserve Mani Ratnam anyway. 😆

I don't like anything about this remake. Ok Jannu?? Seriously? You will have a hard time finding something worse.

And the biggest disaster is that Shaad Ali is directing. Couldn't Karan find anyone else?

Am still hoping that they somehow shelve this.😆

Oh and I saw the original a couple of days ago. It is decent but never fully achieves what it could have been. The was so much potential in the material that it is trying to address ( live in relationships, the modern culture etc) but it never dives into it.

Still the screenplay is tight and does a decent job. Till the end that is, where it just totally goes of tangent. The ending is as cliched and out of the blue as is the norm these days. Of all the possible ways to go, they went with marriage.

But what saves it are the performances, direction, cinematography and the music. I don't see how Shraddha can match up to Nitya, the later is just exceptional is the original. Shraddha is not even remotely close to Nitya's acting prowess.

The only things right about the project are ARR's music and Adi, if you keep the original in mind.

I would have taken a director who has the ability to really address the matter, make it different from the original, and try to better it.

But no, they went with the guy who made Kill Dill...of all the people. I have no idea what they are trying to achieve in remaking OKK by getting him on-board.

Agree with everything you said. The other day I was watching a song from Saathiya and it was very bad if we compare it to the original. If this director can ruin Mani Ratnam's best..what will he do to the worst? MR and PC Sreeram(cinematographer) are a magical team. OKK makes a nice tutorial for photography. So -2 here. Now the title is cringeworthy. Can't really imagine Adi mouthing Jaanu..eww 😆

I too am most worried about the Shaad Ali factor- he took a masterpiece (Alaipayuthey) and completely ruined (Sathiya). And recently Kill Dill has also been bad. So it makes me think Shaad Ali is the problem here.
