The Ekta Kapoor show has been receiving a good response in terms of content. However, the numbers tell a whole different story. "Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do," starring Mona Singh and Iqbal Khan, was a tad different from what we've seen in the past, but the change in the format did not garner great numbers.
According to the latest development, the channel has decided to pull the plug on the show and go in a different direction. Arjit Taneja, who plays the character of Bilal in the show, claims that the show was a finite series and would have died a natural death; there is no point in pulling the plug half-way through. The actor claims that the channel did not give the show enough publicity, nor did they have any repeat telecasts to help connect with the audience. How would the show survive? The actor also claims that it was a content-based show, and that's why it did not work. Everyone wants to bring in change, but no one is ready to take the appropriate steps toward it.
This is not the first time that the channel has taken such a drastic step so soon. We've seen this again and again happening with several shows that don't manage to garner good numbers. Singh and Khan looked great together and had strong chemistry, which drew the audience in. Fans of the show are upset that their favorite show is going off the air and did not even have a chance to prove itself.
While it's sad that the show is coming to an end, we hope Singh and Khan come back with something even more interesting. As for Taneja, we'll continue seeing him in "Kumkum Bhagya."
