We were the first ones to tell you about the Shahid-Vidya budding friendship in HiTLIST (October 22, The Vidya Balan Connection). On Tuesday night, Shahid Kapoor had a personal trial for his film Jab We Met and Vidya was not only the surprise guest of the evening but she even played the unofficial hostess. Now don't be surprised if Shahid and Vidya go public with their news (like Saif Ali Khan and Kareena). What a pity the fashion week is over!
No exes, please!
Says a source present at the trial, "Shahid Kapur had a trial at Yash Raj Studios for Jab We Met. He didn't invite Kareena Kapoor or any of their common friends to watch the film. When we spotted Vidya Balan there, we understood why. The trial consisted of producers and directors from the film industry like Ramesh Taurani, Kumar Mangat, Ken Ghosh, Abbas-Mustaan, Satish Kaushik, Ramesh Sippy, David Dhawan, Ravi Chopra and Raj Kumar Santoshi. It was Shahid's trial along with the worldwide distributors Studio 18 (India and international). Shahid's other favourite co-star Amrita Rao, was present too but Shahid's attention was on Vidya all evening. We were all quite shocked to see Vidya by his side at the trial."

Our khabroo adds, "Vidya and Shahid came and left in their own cars — but at the Versova junction they were both seen heading towards Shahid's house (Raj Classic in Versova). Vidya's Innova was following Shahid's Mercedes."
Earlier last week, Kareena had kept a trial for her family and close friends where Saif had also been invited. Says the source, "Saif loved Jab We Met and kept praising Bebo on her performance."
Flying solo
A strange thing that has been noticed is that besides Star TV's Nach Baliye where Shahid and Kareena came together to promote JWM, Shahid has been making solo appearances in shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Star TV's Voice of India and the train promotion on Tuesday night. While a source close to Kareena says, "Except for Nach Baliye 3, Bebo wasn't invited for any of the other promotional events by the producers, Ashtavinayak."
However Ashtavinayak's spokesperson says, "At the time of Voice of India and the Jhalak shoot, she was shooting for Yashraj Films' Tashan so we had informed the channel and program in advance. For the record, we had her full support in the publicity and promotion."
