I have seen both Diwale and BM and loved the later...okay so we know men in those days could have multiple wives...but Bajirao and Kashibai looked happily married...even after meeting Mastani, Bajirao goes back home, forgets about mastani and looks still very much in love with his wife...

Mastani is basically a home wrecker...she basically pushes/forces her way into bajirao's life...DP looked beautiful and played the part well but the Mastani character is hard to relate to... and maybe thats why PC is also being praised so much...not jus for her performance but also because Kashbai is jus so lovely and strong. In the Mastani-Kashibai confrontation scene mastani says she developed feelings for baijrao...and then kashibai says you can't jus go after everyone u develop feelings for...it doesnt work like that...which is true..

Could you relate to Mastani?...i sure couldn't... dont think any married woman would want a mastani to come into their lives

Nope I don't agree that she was a home wrecker coz Bajirao also fell in love with her, he gave her his dagger as a promise of love and basically marriage
Mastani did not know he was married at the time

Bajirao didn't forget about her, wen mastani comes to his house he was very happy, he defended her from all insults

I don't know abt Mastani but personally I would never approve anything of the sorts. Any woman who knowingly barge into some happily married couple's life is a bitch for me, sorry to use that word though. Man is at fault if he cheats his wife and steps out of marriage and he is to be equally blamed but here I am talking about the woman in question. I can never relate to Mastani as character. (read=mastani as character, not talking about Deepu)

Ps I would like to add that every woman should keep this thing in mind that if a man can leave his wife for her, then he can leave her for some other woman as well.

It depends on so many factors in here. Do I relate to someone who jumps into her husband's pyre to perform sati. God no. Do I relate to the girl child married to a eighty year old man and live the rest of her life as a widow. Nope never. There are hundreds and thousands of social evils that used to be a part of this country and culture. It still does. The difference is we know they are evil in today's time and we raise our voice against it.
That wasn't the case back then. It was an accepted practice to have multiple wives and concubines for men. Nobody ever stated it was wrong or evil. So no one took it as something wrong or evil. Woman were expected to live like sisters and share their husband with each other and hell they were perfectly fine with the practice or maybe they weren't but nobody said it was wrong. Neither legally or morally. So if Mastani falls in love and tries to make her place in Bajirao's life well she wasn't really doing something "wrong 'in those times. Had it been me in those days knowing nuthn better, raised in that kind of a society with those practices flourishing everywhere why would I find it wrong? Wasn't Mastani also the result of polygamy? It was acceptable in those days and thats how everyone lived. There is noways in hell we can compare that world with today's life. Present me can't relate to her character but present me can't relate to Kashi either. I can empathize with them and their situation but I can't judge them.

Mastani knew all along that he is married but she didn't care. In mastani' community they believed the dagger is a promise of love but in Bajirao's community they did not believe in this tradition hence they didn't accept mastani immediately despite having the dagger. Yes bajirao is also at fault n yes he also fell in love with her but mastani was chasing him madly n she left him with no option except to be with her. With kashi bajirao grew n became the bajirao that he was...once mastani entered his life it led to his downfall...his wife wasn't happy...family wasn't happy n he basically went crazy in the end

This is about mastani the character not DP. Actually credit to dp that ppl liked mastani despite her being the other woman. It is also to do with the casting as ppl like to see dp-ranveer together onscreen

Mastani's character would be relatable if like in history Bundelkhad's king/her father just married her off to Bajirao and sent her back. Atleast it would have been an arranged marriage and show us how they came to like each other than the obsessive stalker story we got.

No I cant relate to that character, neither do I approve of such things..

But I do know where she comes from.. Howmuchever cliche it sounds, but characters like Mastani do exist in real world too.. Some women spend their whole lives being somebody's mistress even though they get nothing out of it.. And when I say nothing, I mean respect, acknowledgement, acceptance and rights from the society.. But still they do.. Why.. May be because love empowers them to such an extent that they are ready to compromise even their self-respect for the sake of it..

And as for Bajirao, I do think he too had feelings for her, because when he came back to Pune and Kashibai asked him where his dagger is, it reminded him of Mastani and his expressions said a lot about his feelings.. Mastani entered his life by then itself.. So can't say it's just Mastani who chased him like a mad woman, she couldn't have done that without the consent of the man himself..

Lastly, I despise characters like Bajirao more, because it was him who was in a committed relationship, it was his responsibility to keep Kashi happy and it was him to hurt her.. It wasn't Mastani's job to take care of Kashi's feelings.. In real life too, I kind of hare the ones who are in committed relationships and still go out with other men/women rather than the whird wheel who are anyways in a lose-lose relationship 😕

Good point i agree lekin yeh hai 2016. Bajirao Mastani and Kashi is about ppl in 1700s you are not supposed to relate a lot of things, actions and thoughts that belonged 300 ke upar years ago.

If you give a well etched part to a good actress, then obviously she will do wonders with it and thats what PC did. She played Kashi beautifully.
Deepika,on the other hand, struggled to play Mastani. Add to that her character wasnt well written. Worse her Urdu dialogue delivery was embarassing .
