Hi all.
It is time to say good bye to this year, and welcome the new one.
A very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2016 to all here.
Have a blast!

This is the second thread i am posting today.

Nilkanth Temple Palace of Mughal Emperor Akbar's Hindu Wife in Madhya Pradesh | With English Translation of Persian Inscriptions, Anecdote of Jahangir's BirthDay celebration with his mother in this palace & Pictures of Nilkanth Palace Temple and Shiv Linga

It was called as Imarat-i-Dilkhusha or the heart-pleasing abode.

The Nilkanth palace was built by the Mughal Governor of Mandu - Shah Badgah, as recorded in an inscription on the site, on the orders of Akbar.

This palace contains the Nilkanth shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva & it derives its name from the shrine itself. The picture of Shiv Linga in this palace are present in the post.

The English translation of inscriptions on this palace are beautiful. One of the inscriptions tells us about an expedition of Akbar too.

Later, it became the favourite retreat for their son, the next Mughal Emperor Jahangir / Salim & he celebrated his birthdays in this palace in the presence of his mother.

The article also contains an interesting anecdote related to Jahangir and his mother Mariam-Uz-Zamani, as recorded by a foreign traveller.

Dear Abhay,
First , let me wish you a very Happy New Year !
Your posts are very interesting as well as enlightening and enable us to travel into the past, for which I am thankful to you and Radhika. The year 2015 was indeed a very lucky and memorable one for me which gave me the opportunity to know both of you who always led me to a guided tour of the past.
In fact it is a coincidence that we are able to analyse and compare the actual happenings in the history of the Moghul period, especially that of Akbar when we simultaneously keep watching the show Jodha Akbar.
The very fact that Akbar built the Nilkantha Temple palace in Moghul Architecture for his Queen speaks volumes about his love for his Rajput wife and his awesome outlook of treating the two major religions on par.
This reminds me of a scene in the JA show, where Jodha, after Jalal became 'Akbar', says to him, "How I wish a Musalman celebrates Deepavali with the Hindu and a Hindu celebrates Id with the Musalman!"

I really like the inscription of Shah Budagh Khan which says,
"The whole life may well be spent over handling clay and water,
That perchance the godly person stay here for a while!"
which shows his loyalty and love towards the emperor without any doubt.

I fully appreciate the enormous efforts you have taken to prove the authenticity of your posts and hats off to you.
Abhay, when I read your words, "When the world pushes you to the knees,it means that you are moving in the right direction and should continue moving towards your task.", I am reminded of a proverb in Tamil which says that only a fruit laden tree receives stone throws.

I recently read a book in Tamil on the Muslim Invasion of India titled "Vandargal, Venraargal" ("They Came, They Conquered!") which was first published as a serial in one of the popular weekly magazines, when the author and the magazine editor received threats of legal action etc. Later the book was released with the foreword bythe very famous writer "Sujatha". He writes,"... I know that when this historical account was published as a serial, it received both appreciation and threats. But only these threats are the true, loyal and impartial certificate for its historical authenticity.."

I wish you good luck in your future endeavours!
Yours
Saraswathi Aunty.

Excellent post with a lot of details! 👏
Good to know about the temple and the palace. Actually, I think I have been here, but the thing is, I can't remember temples for long. 😛😆

So, enjoyed reading the post. A temple and a palace is quite a new and different idea. It is interesting that it was made to appear a Muslim building from outside during Akbar's reign. The temple itself is quite different, with the scary dark stairs, and the water channels etc. Makes an exciting visit.

So we have another building Akbar constructed for MUZ. OMG...The list seems to go on. Great to know that. This couple still has so many secrets, waiting to be unfolded. 😳

It is without a doubt that MUZ held a remarkable place in both Akbar's and Jahangir's lives, as well as empire. She was an extra-ordinary woman, one who's uniqueness is still unknown to many. It gives me immense pleasure to read or hear about her.I hope this extra-ordinary, remarkable woman's story reach, far and wide, to as many as possible. Thank you, for you're helping a lot in this work. ⭐️

Loved reading Jahangir's memoirs, as well as Edward Terry's account. Terry's account clearly shows the immense respect he Jahangir had for his mother. Loved the carrying palanquin bit. BTW, This account is of 1616 - 1619, that means after Akbar's reign. I hope Salim was as respecting towards his mother when Akbar was alive. 😛

A very Happy New Year to you Aunty. As usual, you have been very kind in your appreciation and your words are encouraging, as always. Hope you are well and in best of your health.

This "temple" palace is indeed a unique blend of faiths in a distinctive Mughal style. From outside, it appears as Muslim in outlook, but interior houses a temple. The most striking feature is the inscriptions on this building. I was not able to get 60% translations, they could have been more beautiful.

You have quoted a comment (in blue) which i made on blog, in the end. That means, you read all the responses there too, right till the end! Thank you for considering the discussions there, worth reading. :)

That quote was something i believe in practicing. It was a saying of Rumi. I used it in modified manner there. I always take care to be as careful and thoroughly go through references , as much as possible, as History writing is a serious affair, and there have been many many times in the last 2-3 years when i have been into some equally serious debates. I am not talking of the forum, as the history debates here are hardly of that 'level'. :)

As i mentioned in another comment few days back on other thread, that now it is getting tough to write just for the sake of interest. There are certain things, which people, either do not "like" or do not "believe" and do not want to "talk" about, and the fierce opposition comes when evidence is given, because denying something in that case is tough for them for a character. The same thing probably happened with the writer you are talking about.

The quotes (in red) you have shared are beautiful.

Let us forget our normal history discussion which we people do for sake of interest only in this forum. If we talk in a broad terms - We need to see that the foundations of a strong nation can not be built by writing what is 'suitable' or doing something in 'general interest'.

In present times, there is so much emphasis on history for various reasons. People are increasingly gaining access of more and more records. Since the last few decades/years, there is a sort of new energy among the academicians and they are also adopting extreme sides on certain topics.

The better option is to simply write something without employing any 'cosmetic' approach. Follies and Plus points of legends should be put and "discussed" not "dumped". The only solution is responsible academic discourse, not the outright debunking of 'history', i believe. That is why i invite opinions in comments and desist from drawing conclusions in article.

Thank you very much for the encouraging words and wishes!
Looking forward to read more from you.
