Since earlier this year, there have been many rumours suggesting Hrithik Roshan has been signed on as the male lead for Aashiqui 3'. The actor had also featured in a music video alongside Sonam Kapoor, as tribute to the evergreen Dheere Dheere from the original Aashiqui' (1990).
However, a recent report in Filmfare claims that Roshan has decided to opt out of the project as he has come to the conclusion that it is not the right time in his career for such a film. Apparently, Deepika Padukone, who was being considered as the female lead, is also doubtful to stay on after Roshan's departure.
Producer Mahesh Bhatt recently confirmed that Aashiqui 3' will be directed by Mohit Suri and the finer details are still being worked on. An announcement on casting is expected soon.
While news yesterday said that Hrithik Roshan may have opted out of Aashiqui 3', now it's emerged that Sonam Kapoor is also yet to sign the film - despite rumours that both actors had been roped in.
Pinkvilla quote Kapoor speaking the launch of her next film Neerja', "I haven't signed Aashiqui 3, though I am in talks with lot of people. Currently, I am only doing my sister's film".
Kapoor and Roshan shared the screen recently for the first time in a music video which was a modern version of a song from 1990's Aashiqui'.
