Thanks Krishy...🤗

Hmm they editted the scenes out here? Man.

It actually breaks my heart a little because I am so proud to be of Indian origin but sometimes I feel like such an outsider because I have become critical of the society due to what is accepted as entertainment. Like America isn't a walk in the park & there is so much wrong here too...but I've noticed media, actors, businesses hold social responsibility in high esteem - even if it's just a PR bit.

As an supposed outsider, Indian society needs to be uplifted. I mean often am I asked by non-Indian friends about the influx of articles about rape, female infanticide, murders for out of caste/religion marriage, and so on, but to me these things never defined such a rich nation.

However, despite what some BT CVs say, scientific studies prove that fiction matters. Society influences fiction and in turn fiction influences society. In fact Indian TV becomes even more ingrained in the lives of people because it's aired 5-7 days per week and unconsciously becomes almost like a neighbor or family member you chat with daily. People watch TV not for moral policing, but that doesn't mean anything should be accepted.

it's funny to me - the youth of India who protest for women's rights & such have households where a show that had a 2 month long GKC rant lasted. Generation gap? Or do they not percieve fiction as playing a role in the social issues?

Idk it's just a sad & confusing state of affairs.

On a more fun note, I've considered working in India for a few years & what am I supposed to watch - "mature" desi shows? 😲 Thank goodness they have baseline crap desi shows & American movie & TV show reruns.

(sorry for the social talk - but for me a story can be crappy be it there is an ounce of responsibility or delicacy, so what YHM has done is just disappointing)

YHM used to be a good show with strong characters and acting. It used to be entertaining. It even had a reasltisic plot line. But all that changed a few months back. The ISHRA consummation followed a miracle baby which was the start of the downfall. Then came Speed and loss of baby and this surrogacy track. It was handled like a sham and just looked bogus! Raman was made to look like a fool and honestly you just got mad at him. The same is happening now with Ishita. Before it was "Ishita ke liye", now it's "Raman Ke Liye".

I was not a regular watcher of YHM till about year ago. I have liked it most of the time. But now it is just too far fetched and joined the ranks of the illogical and unrealistic crappy shows that are running Indian TV. I just don't belong to that demographic that will watch any far fetched nonsense. So this twist has made it very hard for me to digest this story now. The story used to be realistic but now just an insult to intelligence. Ashok who was a classy villain is now just someone who wants to kill people. He wanted Ishita killed and since then he is on this kill Bhalla's bandwagon.

Indian TV is always insulting the intelligence of its viewers. I gave up watching a show I followed on another channel about 5 months ago, coz I just could not take the illogical and cheap story anymore. Now looks like YHM might be going down similar unrealistic paths. Such a shame coz it didn't have to be this way at all. That is why shows need to be finite. Shows with a "story" that is. Those that have no story can run for years and the people who like to watch those can watch as well. But these type of stories need to have a start and an end and the story and characters need to maintain their integrity. If not, then it looses its essence and its charm totally. YHM is not a show that should run for years with illogical twists. But that is what it has now become. Sad but I don't see this show coming back from this huge mess now! I am a westerner but enjoy watching Indian shows. However, they always end up disappointing me at some point coz the story becomes nonsense. Please make finite shows or go for seasons like the west does. I liked Reporters coz it started and ended well!

@blue I have no answers as frankly I dont think they feel they owe the audience any answer...to them fiction is whatever crap the serve and us audience should label it as 'anything in fiction goes' and gobble it up with our eyes closed and brain switched off.

Maya thank you for always posting honest review about the episode...and trying to keep it positive...and truly touched by your words in bold 🤗

Gan, I forgot to add they even they butchered Ashok character to glorify Shagun from a classy business villain who wanted just to humiliate and win Raman at any cost was changed to a killer so that Shagun could be glorified so he killed IshRa baby just so Shagun could become surrogate mother and he is on a killing spree of Raman so that Shagun becomes the mahan in front of Bhalla and Iyers and the audience.

While looking at other replies in your post your collage got my attention I was so put off with IshRa romance thinking it was Shagun ghost romancing Raman so for the first time ever I was disgusted with IshRa romance so could not watch so FF the whole scene now I feel even more disgusted knowing that they made Ishita do that just so everyone is put off by IshRa magic and will leave this show frankly speaking they have succeed in what they wanted to achieve they made loyal viewers repulse this show so much that no body wants to protest now against the surrogacy I just hope the trp falls drastically.

I stopped watching soaps long time back because I could not stand all the illogical and immoral stuff they were showing in the name of soaps the first one I watched after a long time was Is Pyar ka Kya Nam do that too with Arnav and Kushi I watched it after almost 3 years later after the show went off air and liked it very much and when YHM started it was so different from other serials it intrigued me so much so I started watching regularly but now it is like every other nonsense soap which is aired there is nothing unique about YHM anymore at least the lead chemistry was there but with Ishita one smirk they even killed that chemistry.

I always liked your post because it was not biased based on the favorite actor/actress it was always about the story and the fan girls wars were interesting to read.

Hey Gan,

Its been a pleasure all this while, with your reviews and collages making an important part of my daily analysis of each episode.

I truly understand the situation you're in, because almost all of us are there. Personally, for me, that point was surrogacy. I knew what BT was capable of, yet somehow believed they will not go ahead with surrogacy for real, and had it blown in my face. The disconnect deepened to an extent that during this entire track - Shagun death drama + possession - I was completely untouched. I'm not disappointed, or hurt right now. I can rant it all out, because I know all the discrepancies and idiocy that has been shown on-screen, but I don't even feel like doing so. I watched inter-mittently in between like a TRP aunty (Krishy helped immensely there 😉 😆) even yesterday's episode.

It is storylines like these which made me quit desi TV years ago, despite living in India. And YHM's uniqueness amongst the lot is the reason I came back. I hadn't expected it to fall this bad, this quick. This downfall, in terms of content, is the most accelerated in all daily shows afaik. They not only defied logic and common sense, but contradicted their own beliefs that they show-cased themselves a year and a half ago.

Other shows had their expectations set fro day one - They did not promise mature, sensible, progressive story. They promised OTT drama, and they delivered. The grudge I have is that they advertised something else and sold something else. Had I known its going to be like another dramatic daily, no Divan chemistry / acting would have pulled me in. Khair! No use crying over spilt milk.

I hope you're only done with the show, and not the forum. Its been super interacting with you, and though I've started participating lesser, I still look forward to your posts, daily or otherwise, and would continue to do so 😊 😳

Gan, Maya, before i too join the good bye club, just thought of mentioning that other than Reporters, there was a show I used to watch after ipkknd and before yhm on star plus and that was Meri Bhabhi. Luckily they shut the show at the right time, also coz the female lead was pregnant in real life.

Meri Bhabhi was good and it had a man falling in love with a divorced woamn who had a child... you two may like it...There were two parallel leads and it was shown very nicely. That is a realistic even though that had lotsa drama too and a good moral to show to society.

Gan,
I'm sorry it had to come down to this. thankfully, I cut my ties with this show ever since the sautan saga but I get it.

One of the reasons why I avoid hindi serials-especially from balaji because it is heartbreaking to see your favourite characters/couple/show being butchered for the sake of ratings and longevity. I avoid watching hindi shows as much as possibel to preserve my own sanity. besides, watching such immoral, unethical and disgusting tracks makes my stomach turn. The creatives have no social responsibility or respect towards their audience, but why should they? given that most of them accept these nauseating tracks. Before we complain about writers, we should take a good look at the audience. most don't think about what they watch and accept every nonsense in the name of fiction or entertainment.

Indian television may be a multi million dollar industry, but it quality wise- it is in the dustbin. and sadly, I don't see any change occuring any time soon. Maybe 10- 15 years later but for now, we're stuck with this bullshit.
