my life experience is that in short term good looks does help you. good looking people get initial benefit. however in the long run the one who has a better personality overall wins thru in entertainment. in life someone who is more talented wins thru

having said that..what if a good looking one has other qualities too?

In that situation when all things are constant, good looking ones are more appreciated in any society..even in west

so yes it is a factor but its not like its automatic.

Exactly it can't be automatic. It shouldn't be. The channels the PR just overdo it. Ok there's this good looking person. Now let us move on. Go beyond that. Let us judge them on the basis of their worth...I mean wit presence of mind sense of humour groundedness etc. Why the viewers r treated like juveniles who can't reach their own decisions?
