I disagree to some points like where you mentioned that hindu dharmic texts have mentioned an inferior role to hindu women. It's not true it's infact false. The oldest hindu texts gave a woman more respect than any other religion could ever give. But with time and with the coming of Kalyuga and crime women were snatched the devi status that they truly had during the start and they are devis of mere name now. Hindu religion is the oldest religion dear and it is the most respecting religion towards woman. The Shakti is the origin of the religion whom all the Gods pray including the supreme trio and any God is nothing without his shakti. But jaise jaise samay bita yeh haalat girls ki insaan ne ki and people are not influenced by any dharmic text.
Anyways dear it's my opinion I am sorry if you were hurt.
Great postGurleen👏Loved the way you dissected Usha's character...I'm not getting into the religious aspects but speaking from a Indian cultural view, I can understand Usha's outdated views about family culture. Usha is from the older generations value systems where a wife's identity is through the husband and son... She's scared that even one of the rituals done wrongly would bring bad luck to the family. She's steeped in superstitions.

If that is the case, then can you please direct me to some of the texts that promote this? I would absolutely love to read them and have my viewpoint be proved wrong. The basis for which I stated all this is the various scholarly articles that I have read that prescribe the treatment of women in the olden days, texts and epics. One of the major texts that I had in mind while writing my piece on Usha is the "Manusmrti" where some of the translated pieces that I have read have been absolutely horrifying in their statements of how a woman should act.And please, don't apologize. In fact, I am more than happy to have my viewpoints be countered and actually develop a whole rounded idea on the topic; especially if the topic is concerning women.
