CAPTURING KHAN IN A BOOK
People who can't get enough of Shah Rukh Khan have more than one reason to be happy. Just before the November release of Om Shanti Om, a book on the celebrated actor--SRK: King Khan--has hit the book stores.

THE CHARMER
While SRK rides high on the Chak De! wave--the expression that has come to be associated with all things sports and victory--the book mentions how as a child he used to dream of representing the country in international sports events.
UNKNOWN FACETS
This book by journalist and critic Deepa Gahlot lets out some never known before aspects of the actor's life.
Shah Rukh was bright, naughty, and fond of sports but weak in Hindi--either scoring very low marks or failing in the subject--says the biography.
THE COLOURED LIFE
The book adds that his mother never reprimanded him for doing poorly in Hindi. In order to improve his score, she promised him that she'll take him to a Hindi movie in a cinema hall if he bettered his marks.
Obviously the young Khan took the bait. Maybe it was his first visit to cinema hall that triggered off the acting impulse in him
THE ROMANTIC ANGLE
The effervescent actor later started performing in television and theatre. It was around this time that he started wooing a lovely Hindu girl, Gauri Chibbar.
Because of the religious differences, Gauri's family disapproved but that wasn't the end of the love affair. The picture perfect couple got married after six years of clandestine courtship.
WOOS & WOES
Disgruntled parents weren't their only cause of worry though.
Gauri was not entirely convinced about Shah Rukh's career choice and his decision to move to Mumbai. But like a romantic Bollywood movie their love overcame all troubles.

While we have had many brilliant actors from theatre who also became great movie actors, SRK is perhaps the only one to achieve the commercial superstar status. One can also safely say, this is the only "theatre" actor who can pull the crowds into movie halls.

NO SMOOTH RIDE, THIS
However, the book says that Shah Rukh Khan's life has not been a smooth sailing.
Initially he was rejected by the media and the masses for non-existent looks, very bad hair, 'jerky' dancing style, hamming, poor acting skills, etc. When he rose to fame, he was severely criticised for dancing at weddings and endorsing a plethora of products.
But, right from harsh critics to property tax woes, he found a way around everything that life threw at him
TRULY GLOBAL
The biography's author says that if it is true that every age gets the hero it deserves then Shah Rukh Khan is the hero of the globalised information age with an image that cuts across international boundaries to reach the Indian diaspora and fans all over the world.
BADSHAH FOREVER
SRK: King Khan reveals a lot of things that the Bollywood Badshah's (emperor) fans would find interesting.
However, even more interesting would be Shah Rukh Khan's autobiography. After all who would not want to find out King of Bollywood's take on things! Would you not?
