1. Rekha was born out of wedlock to Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and Telugu actress Pushpavalli. Ganesan was already married when Rekha was born and therefore throughout her childhood, she was neglected by her father. After Rekha became a well-known actress, her father did try for reconciliation, but Rekha refused to oblige. The actress however is said to be very close to all her step sisters.

2. Anyone who had ever paid any heed to Bollywood gossip knows about the affair between Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan. There were also rumours that the two got married on the day Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh got married. Rekha turned up for the Kapoors' reception party wearingsindoor and mangalsutra. Not surprisingly, she became immediately became the topic of discussion.

3. It was said that the actress married her Ghar co-star Vinod Mehra in 1973. However, she has maintained that he was just her "well-wisher" and categorically denied the relationship when she was interviewed by Simi Garewal.

4. Reportedly the actress also dated and married Sanjay Dutt. However, both Rekha and Dutt have denied this.

5. On paper, Rekha married only once. She tied the knot with industrialist Mukesh Aggarwal in 1990. However, the marriage came to an abrupt end when Aggarwal committed suicide in 1991. Rekha was in America when Aggarwal killed himself. However, the twist in the tale is that the actress confessed later in an interview, that she had been in "two failed marriages."She also said that the second marriage was with Aggarwal. So, who is her first husband?

6. Rekha has also been linked with her manager Farzana. The fact that Farzana is the only one who has the privilege of visiting Rekha at home has led to much speculation.
