This is just plain nuts!
Upen Patel recently bought himself a shiny new BMW M3, only to have it damaged a few days later! Last Wednesday, a huge coconut fell on his parked car and shattered the windscreen.
Says a shell-shocked Upen, "The cost of repairing the windscreen will run into thousands of rupees.I can't believe this happened barely days after I got the car!
Now the garage tells me they will be able to replace the glass only after 10 days. Till then, I'll have to drive my other car (Ford Endeavor)."
Good omen
Narrating exactly what happened, Patel says, "I parked the car inside my compound in Bandra and went to my flat to collect something.
When I returned, I saw that a crowd had gathered around my car. When I saw the shattered windscreen, I initially thought someone had broken the glass.
Then the people told me that a coconut had fallen on it! They said it could have been worse and that 'nazar utar gayee', but that's hardly any consolation!"
Upen says that the BMW convertible is a special car for him. "It's a two-door, soft top, sports car with one of the most powerful engines in the world.
It's a 2007 model comes fully kitted with a navigation system, reverse angle camera and heated seats. I've added two TV screens and a Playstation in the car," he says proudly.
The actor adds that he's always had a fascination for fast cars and bikes. He says, "My dream now is to own a Lamborghini Gallardo.
Currently, it's way too expensive for me (costs over Rs 2 crore), but I'm very ambitious. One day I will own a Lamborghini and not even a coconut can stop me!"
