Kareena Kapoor on the sets of Ki and Ka on Tuesday
The actors filmed a one-day wedding sequence for R Balki's rom-com.
It was a low-key wedding on the sets of R Balki's upcoming rom-com, Ki and Ka. Kareena Kapoor, who plays an independent, corporate honcho, tied the knot with an MBA graduate, Arjun Kapoor, who opts to be a stay-at-home husband. Swaroop Sampat's, Ki's (Kareena) chic mother, blessed the newlyweds. Rajat Kapoor, who plays Ka's (Arjun) disapproving dad in the film, was missing during the day-long shoot.
The film went on floors on August 3 and the cast has been filming all of last month in Mumbai. On Tuesday, they had a one-day stint at Mehboob Studios where Mirror photographer, Raju Shelar, snapped Kareena as she stepped out, dressed in a light green, temple-border sari, bangles and bindi.
"Kareena's look will instantly remind you of Vidya Balan in those cotton sarees in Balki's Paa. And the wedding set-up can be compared to that seen in Shaad Ali's Saathiya when Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukerji eloped to get married," says a source from the sets, pointing to the mandap, which looked festive with garlands and everybody dressed in traditional Indian cottons.
The film derives its title from linguistic gender division in the Hindi language found in the words 'ladki and ladka' and its derivations - iska iski... uska uski.
Writer-director-producer Balki had earlier told Mirror (July 30), "In Hindi, not just human beings but also nonliving objects have gender. Everybody and everything is categorised. But this film, like the couple's marriage, underlines the fact that 'Ki' and 'Ka' as genders don't matter. The film is all about breaking gender stereotypes."
The unit heads out for its final schedule to the capital on September 12 and will be filming outdoors, capturing the city's feel and essence, since the couple is Delhi based.
