On the other hand, global warming is unlikely to be a human extinction event because we will get round to addressing the problem, too little too late, imo. Stil it will kill tens of millions or even more people.

Yes much more needs to be done but at least the world is much more conscious of the problem.
Even a country like China is controlling smoke emissions through vehicles and is introducing electric cars. Read somewhere that the ozone layer depletion is on road to recovery
I am more aware of recycling waste etc and doing my bit too. But there is much more the Government can do in this respect and educate the public.
On the negative side, deforestation is expanding with a rise in human population and our weather has gone bonkers with extremes.

Humans may become extinct one day... Untill the planet has all the optimum conditions required for survival.

IDK if humans or any other species would continue to exist...sure there will be a possibility either by evolution or by technological reliance...but it is a known fact that one day, Earth will be just like other uninhabitable planets untill it is ultimately swallowed up by our Sun.

Anyway, I'm a firm believer that there are millions of habitable planets like Earth in the universe, where life exists...i hope all our souls migrate to a different planet after this Earth can no longer support us :D

Humans (or our progenitors) have been on this planet for less than 5 million years. We only came down from the trees about 1.8 million years ago according to the latest evidence. The dinosaurs lived for some 40 million years. Even when they were wiped out, various forms of carnivorous birds became the dominant life form. Even they existed longer than the human species to date. Eventually mammals came into their own.

IMO humans will eliminate themselves through their own technologies.

I don't understand why souls which are supposedly spirits/non-physical need planets to live on. So to me souls don't need to migrate - that is if there is such a thing as a soul!

Whether the cause will be technology or not is hard to say. Point is one day earth will be uninhabitable and will eventually be swallowed up by our Sun.

I'd rather not discuss about soul. It's a complex subject and I'm poor in articulation.

As i mentioned way back when I began this thread, there are serious potential threats to human existence on this planet other than our own technology. Between now and our sun becoming a red giant in around 5 billion years time ( which BTW, is also around when the Andromeda Galaxy will be colliding with the Milky Way), there is the possibility of a supernova irradiating the earth, or a Gamma-ray burst sterilising the earth, and of course there's the danger from of an extinction event from a large asteroid or comet. Statistically speaking while the risk of each of these other dangers is a low risk in a short time span of a few thousand years, when taken over a longer time period , the risk becomes extremely large - almost inevitable. So statistically speaking these other events I mentioned are more likely to wipe out all life on this planet long before our sun becomes a red giant.

The world might have ended many times in the past. Rather than the world I find it more appropriate to say that life on earth might have been completely wiped out many times in the past. There are many possibilities you know, a little shift in the tectonic plates, a slight tilt in the earth's axis, changes in the sun or the rise in sea level... there are many many possibilities.

Tectonic plates shifting is not going to wipe out all living things - the planet has been through drastic shifts while complex life lived upon the earth. Even a shifting of the Earth's axis or even loss of the moon will not eliminate all life on earth. It will make matters difficult for many creatures but with living organisms already having a firm hold, many species will continue to survive and adapt. Species extinction is common enough in the history of the earth but surviving species adapt and live on - i.e. creatures evolve. Our human ancestors evolved in Africa at a time of major drought which reduced the amount of tree cover, forcing many creatures to adapt to the change.

There was no total extinction of all life on this planet or it would be evident from the fossil record. We have had some well characterised extinctions but there were always some species that survived to live and evolve. (See some of my previous posts on this thread.) If that was not the case our mammalian ancestors would have also been wiped out by the meteor impact at Chicxulub and the concurrent massive volcanic eruptions in the Deccan traps. The original area covered by the lava flows is estimated to have been as large as 1.5 million km, approximately half the size of modern India.

Hmm really world will end😲 I want to know when, aaram se I can sit, no need of studying anymore😆
Sorry just kidding but coming to the topic I am no science student and doesn't know much about the technicalities of how it would end but I certainly feel it will end one day

My logic is simple - everything has an expiry date and earth too should have expiry date.

When It will end I don't know but it will have an expiry date. The kind of destruction human race itself is doing may decrease the life of earth but it doesn't mean we ourselves is responsible for its end. End is destined we are just decreasing the time.

OMG I became so serious😭

If world ends will there be life which will be exported to other planets...Like that 2012 movie where prominent people will built something to survive.

Even though they survive on other planets they need to do their basic chores, how funny - so called billionaire or president doing his own work becoz all the common people die😆

Frankly we should not worry when our life is going to end because the world around us will be here for a very, very long time.
One thing we often do not think about is the importance of good health. Life without good health is a real torture. I realized this when I was slightly unwell recently due to a bout of flu.
For many life ends when they lose their most precious treasure which could be wealth or a loved one. But still life must go on for the One above is watching all the time.
