Abeer was sitting in his office cabin when Sasha came running in.
"What's the problem...??? Earthquake aaya hai kya...??" asked Sasha as she sat on the table.
"Nisaar kahan hai...??" asked abeer.
Sasha made a face realising that abeer wasn't in the mood for non sense... He was visibly upset and angry.
"I don't know... Tu call kar le.." Sasha suggested.
"Sasha call kar na... Don't tell him I'm asking about him..."
Sasha called nisaar and asked him about his whereabouts. Abeer concentrated on his breathing trying to control his anger. He somewhat knew what was keeping nisaar busy. He was being extra friendly with her... With his meher.
"Wohh he is saying ke uske cousins aaye hai ghar..." replied Sasha.
"Bullshit... What does he thinks he is doing...?? Why is he always with her..??" Abeer said.
"Her..??? Who...??"
"Meher... I saw him... With her... At an ice cream parlour last week..." answered abeer.
"Mat soch aisa... He is just being... I mean being a friend to meher... They gel well you know... I would have gone to meet her... But I think she doesn't like me that much... Or she is uncomfortable..." replied Sasha.
Abeer looked at Sasha and asked "why do you think so...??"
"I heard what she said that night, back in lonavla... She told uncle she is more comfortable with you and aunty..."
"Dekh Sasha... Woh... Meher ka woh Matlab nahi tha... She wasn't well... She wanted to be with me... That's it..." explained abeer.
"Abeer stop defending her... I understand it happens..." replied Sasha with a smile.
"You are right... I shouldn't be defending her... Aur rishta bhi kya hai humare beech..." Abeer replied sadly.
"Abhi bhi soch le yaar... Der nahi hui hai... Sab sach bta de meher ko..."
"Nahi Sasha... I will live without her... I'm trying you know..."
"Acha movie tonight..???" asked Sasha.
"Mission Impossible" replied abeer.
"Done..."
She was going to be sick, meher thought as suman placed her favourite grilled cheese sandwich in front of her. Meher looked at the sandwich and hoped for it to disappear into air. This sickness has been going on for a long time now. She wondered if its some kind of a stomach flu or food poisoning.
"What happened meher...?? Eat it darling..." said suman.
Meher smiled and nodded her head. She focused on her breathing and waited for the nausea to go away. She took one piece of the sandwich and breathed in its smell, this time the nausea hit her really hard. Before she knew it, she was out of the room and into the bathroom, with her head over the basin. She emptied her stomach into the basin and rinsed her mouth. She splashed water on her face and closed her eyes thinking of her life after abeer betrayed her.
Meher opened her eyes to see suman looking at her worriedly.
"I'm fine mumma... I think I ate something bad..." said meher.
"I don't think so meher... You have been sick from past few days..." replied suman.
"Its just that... I always have this feeling of being sick... Sometimes nausea... Its nothing... Right..??" asked meher.
"We need to go to a doctor Meher..."
"Mumma I will be fine..."
"Meher get ready..." ordered suman.
Meher was sitting in the doctor's cabin and a nurse took her blood sample. Meher sat clueless in the cabin beside suman. The doctor now and then smiled at meher and kept talking to her to distract her.
"What is the problem with me doctor..?? Am I sick..?? As in any severe disease..." asked meher.
"Relax dear... It will all be fine... I will just do your check up.. And in the meanwhile we will have the blood test reports..." replied the doctor.
After an hour, the nurse walked in with the test reports. Meher felt really nervous and crossed her fingers hoping for everything to be alright with her.
"So we finally know the cause... Our guess was right..." said the doctor.
Meher looked at her mother confusedly.
"You are pregnant meher... Congratulations "
Meher looked at suman who looked equally shocked and tensed. Meher thought she would have an anxiety attack anytime soon.
"Are you sure doctor...??" asked suman.
"Yes... 100 %" replied the doctor.
Meher ran out of the cabin and stopped when her head spinned. She stood there looking around and if felt that it was her life which was spinning; not her head. Her life became a nightmare for her, when she realised that she was pregnant with a baby... She was carrying a baby in her womb... "Its just a foetus now" she thought.
Meher didn't know when suman came and brought her back home. She was sitting on the sofa all numb and clueless.
"Why did I let this happen..?? How could it happen..?? What has my life turned into...?? How will I raise a a child, when I'm pretty much a child myself...??? I'm not even settled in my career... I have a job but I can't survive on that meagre salary... I should leave this house... I can't let anyone know about this... This will bring shame to all of us... To my family... I have to go away..." Meher muttered to herself.
Suman shook meher with force and hugged her.
"Meher call Abeer..." Suman said, giving meher much needed support and strength.
"I can't..."
Meher closed her eyes and again started crying. She wanted to die at that moment.
"Its his child too meher..." reasoned suman.
"Its a mistake mumma... A mistake..." replied meher, still crying.
"I shouldn't be consoling you meher... You really did bring shame to us... But I want you to be happy... You have to tell abeer about it..." And continued "we can't let anyone know about this... Not even your dad... He will be shattered... We loved you... Trusted you... Gave you freedom... But what are we getting in return...?? My daughter is pregnant before marriage... Marriage that she herself refused to do... Why did you refuse meher..?? Why..??? You should have tried to mend your relationship with abeer... Sort out whatever differences you had... But what did you do...??? You ended it up..."
Meher wiped her eyes, so that she could tell her mother what exactly happened... How her to be husband blames her of cheating on him and that too with his best friend. But meher decided against it and thought its better to call abeer. She just couldn't let herself dial his number though.
"He never loved me mumma... He won't support us..." Meher whispered while disconnecting the call after dialing the number.
"He will meher... He has to..." said suman.
Abeer looked at his mobile screen unbelievingly. He couldn't believe that it was meher's name that was flickering on the screen.that does mean she misses him or she dialled it by mistake.
"Hello..." Abeer said trying not to sound desperate or happy to hear from her.
"A..ab.. Abeer... I.. I... I'm pregnant" said meher in a trembling voice.
"WHAT...??" Abeer said surprisingly.
"Are you sure... I mean you heard it right...??" asked madhvi when abeer told her about meher's phone call.
"Yes mom... Meher said it herself..." replied abeer.
"Hmm... When did you meet her last...??" asked madhvi.
"How does that even matter...?? We have such a big issue to resolve..." Abeer replied impatiently.
"It does abeer... Are you sure that... That baby is yours...???"
"Mom.. How can you ask me something like that...?? Arghh"
"Abeer we have to be sure... Not that I'm blaming meher and all... But-"
"Its mine... " replied abeer.
The parents met and decided what their next step should be. Given they had to do it carefully, not letting anyone know the reason behind the rush. Abeer wanted to meet meher in that while, but madhvi straight away stopped him from doing it. Meher on the other side, wanted to do anything except meetingabeer. She couldn't face him... Forget talking to him.
The next thing they knew was that "They were MARRIED".

"Curse...?? Our baby...?? a curse..." Abeer asked after he recovered from the shock of what meher uttered.
"Yes... A curse... You heard me right..." replied meher looking straight into his eyes.
"You seriously need to consult a doctor meher... Tumhare screw dheele ho gaye hain baby.."
"Don't baby me abeer..." Meher said irritatedly.
Abeer giggled and got into the bed.
"I don't want this baby..."
Abeer this time got up with anger written on his face.
"I want this baby meher... I dare you to try and do something wrong with my baby... I won't think once before killing you sweetheart..." Abeer warned meher, his eyes all red and screaming anger.
Meher kept rooted to the place where she was standing before abeer warned her. She felt threatened by him. Never did he talked to her like that.. Not even when he blamed her of cheating on him and breaking up their engagement... Though she now knows why he did that... Those were just hurtful words which didn't mean anything to him.
"Abeer... Just listen to me once... Please " said meher, getting into the bed.
"Just sleep meher... And tomorrow we will tell everyone about this good news" replied Abeer.
"Abeer its my life... My body... Its growing inside me... I should have the power to decide about it..." Meher argued.
"I once let you take your own decisions... And we know what you landed yourself into sweetheart..." replied abeer turning around, now facing meher.
Meher went numb and closed her eyes thinking about what all happened with her and how abeer is right about her landing up in a mess.
"I love you meher... I really do... Don't think of doing this to us..." Abeer said emotionally.
Meher wanted to say a million things to Abeer in reply but she didn't. All those things will eventually hurt both of them, so she stayed quiet.
"Goodnight abeer..."
"Goodnight" said abeer and kissed meher's forehead.
~~~ back to flashback ~~~
"Meher you have to take lots and lots of care of yourself now... There is a life taking shape inside you..." said madhvi making meher comfortable in her 'new' bedroom.
Meher nodded her head in positive.
"Aunty... I.. I wanted to apologise... I ignored you that day... I left house without greeting you... I was really upset and wanted nothing around me that would remind me of abeer..." Meher confessed.
"Its alright... Meher you are the daughter I never had... Yes your behaviour hurted me that day... But later on I understood what you just be going through... You don't have to apologise..."
Meher couldn't control herself and started crying seeing how much her mother-in-law loves and adore her.
"Shh... No crying... Start your new life with a smiling face... With happiness..." madhvi said and wiped meher's tears.
"Hmm..."
Madhvi saw abeer standing at the doorstep looking at them, so she left the room. Abeer closed the door and looked at meher who looked ravishing. She wasn't looking like a traditional Indian bride but she looked pretty beautiful according to him in that pink saree. They couldn't marry in a traditional way because meher was pregnant, so they got married in the marriage court. Signing a document, exchanging rings and garlands, and pinch of vermilion. This night wasn't like the wedding night abeer ever dreamnt of but at least they are together now. Their first night as husband and wife.
"Meher..." said abeer.
Meher played with the end of the pallu of her saree, waiting for abeer to continue. She was mentally preparing herself for hurtful words from her husband. How she wished their wedding night to be different - something romantic and passionate.
"I'm talking to you " he again said
