(Part 1)
LA Malibu
It was a summer afternoon the sun was shining and there was a soft gentle breeze in the air. She saw the beach as the car went passed, Pratigya was sitting next to her brother Varun as their mum was driving them "So you both looking forward to spending the summer vacation with your dad?" "Yes" yelled Varun excitedly. Pratigya didn't bother to give an answer, she had the most little respect for her dad after he cheated on her mum with one of her school teachers. "Pratigya?" "yeah mum whateves" her mum shook her head at her answer. "we are here , look their comes your papa" they were packed outside his summer cabin.
"Hi Shradha, how are my kids" Varun ran to his dad, where as she walked passed him, with her arms folded, and face full of attitude. He turned to his ex-wife. "Mukesh be patient with her , she'll come around. Varun was on full conversation with his father as they entered the house, Pratigya looked around the tiny beach cabin. Look at mum laughing with this man like he didn't do anything, wrong is it only me who thinks we should never have been in touch with this man again' She couldn't take all this fake ness. "I'm going to my room" she said walking off. "I can show.. "
"I know where it is!" she said cutting him off. He turned to his ex-wife. "I'll will have a word later, but Varun can't wait to spend all his holiday's with his father right baby?" he nodded. "I'm going out" she said as she came to the bottom of the stairs. "Dressed like that?" said her father when he saw her in a mini, floral dress with a red cardigan and matching heels.
Her look
"Yeah what's the problem, this is how I dress everyday.. you know you would've known this if you sticked around, instead of shacking up with my teacher"
"Pratigya Mukesh Mathur, that's enough beta!" all eyes were on the mum. "now he is your father, show some respect and Varun is here so if you could keep a lid on it" Her brother gave her an angry look" she caught on and felt bad.
"Varun listen to me" but he ran away before giving his sister a chance to speak. "I'll see to him" her mum rushed upstairs after him. Pratigya had to get out of there. She slammed the door shu walking away from the home headache.
*
Leaning against the wall in his denim jeans, white t-shirt and leather jacket.
His look:
Looking ahead at the shore, He took a few puffs.. Ahead he saw a girl walking along the beach, just the other day he looked at old photos. "I know that face" he crushed his cigarette under his foot. "Well, well if it isn't miss summer vacation. He came over to her. "Aren't you going to come over and say "hi" she looked up from the ground and saw him, but no recollection of who he was. "Do we know each other?"
"Mukesh's daughter?"
"please don't refer to him as my papa.."
"oh ok, I sense some bad blood?" she nodded. "you could say that, so.. you finally left India then?.. it's me Krishna?"
"Krishna, nerdy Krishna?" he nodded. "yes I remember you now, when did you move here?"
"A few years back, with my family, and you?"
"we moved from India when I was 11yrs, now we are settled in Manhattan upper east side, I'm just on summer break visiting Mukesh"
"ouch so first names it must be bad.."
"It is, the whole reason we left India, I miss NYC I didn't even want to come here."
"Hmm" he said lighting another cigarette"..
"wait when did you start this, I remember you giving a speech on why it's so bad for your health"
"Circumstances, I found out a few home truths so things change. He said taking a puff. "Does it relieve the tension?" he nodded
"can I try" he nodded "sure" handing it to her. She took she small stick between her fingers, her hair blowing away in the wind as she took a small puff she immediately started coughing. " not for amateurs" he said taking it back. "I'm not, I've done this plenty of times, wait your folks are strict do they know of this habit?"
They won't care anyway things have changed a lot since I was 11yrs " he said blowing out from the corner of his mouth. "well I don't know how you can live here, it's a dump"
"then go back to New York"
"I wish it was that easy..i'm stuck here"
"ok I've got to go, see you around"
"wait?" he turned around.. she walked to him. "I need your help, so I can get out of here for good."
"if my papa saw that I am hard to handle then he will send me packing in no time".. Krishna's brows knitted . "ok how can I help you do that?" she turned on her girl charm. "well" she held his hand. "If I was being a bad girl and caught in the act then.. she raised a brow. He didn't get it at first but then he did clearly.
" no forget it, I have my own crap to deal with, look I'm sure someone else can help you with this, look there are so many people around, go make friends" he took a step back. "but I don't know them, I don't trust them and how can you suggest to me to ask some random to do that with"
"Listen sweetie you shouldn't be doing that kind of thing at all, just sort your mess out, your dad can't be that bad" now she was angry. "Fine, you won't help me, hmm I wonder what your dad would think of your bad habit"
"no wait, why do that?"
"well it's like you said they don't care so what do you have to lose?" Krishna expressions changed. "don't do that, it would bug them and mess up some things for me.. fine I'll help you" she grinned at him "correct answer" she said happily getting her own way. " but first tell me why you can't sort your mess out without involving me, from what I remember uncle is quite nice" She softly chuckled. " once I'm done telling you, you will want to piss him off yourself" she walked with him along the beach filling him one.
"Wow what a rat I can't believe he would do that"
He turned to her.
"I'm in" she gave him a subtle smile and said
"tomorrow?" he nodded to her and they both shook hands.
"Your right Shradha I will make more of an effort with her" he said. "look who's home?" said her mum seeing her walk through the door, she gave her dad a small smile. "well that's me, I'll be staying in the hotel near by till she properly settles in.. then I'll take the next flight out to NYC. She nodded. "ok mum I'm really tired I'm going to bed" she fake yawned. "oh already I thought we could take out the old piano , your mother tells me you haven't played for a long time. "no thanks" she replied. Midway up the stairs, she turned on her heel "but we can try it tomorrow?" Her father could not believe it. "Y-yeah beta that would be great" she smiled seeing her plan was working already.
Precap:
Maybe its better this way" she kept looking towards the window. "better why?" he silenced her with a kiss.
