"I got your text, so is it true?" she asked once they were in the cave. His back was turned to her.

" dad told me a lot of things, I can't believe he would make such awful things up to split us up, can you believe him, I know you, you wouldn't even hurt a fly" He slowly turned around to face her. She saw it in his eyes, but didn't want to believe it.

"oh my gosh.. he wasn't lying.." Krishna didn't know what to say.

"what Maya said and my dad?.. its true, you deal drugs, are you a dealer? ! she was shocked and wasn't ready for the answer.

"y-yes I am, but i.." she took a step back.

"do you take them yourself?"

"no absolutely not, I've never touched that stuff in my whole life, I swear"

"oh so you just ruthlessly beat people up for a living," she said trying to keep her voice from cracking. "you actually did that?"

"once y-yeah, but I didn't want to"

"stay away from me..

"Pratiya please just hear me out" he said holding her arm.

"Krishna don't touch me !

"wait..

" Krishna don't! ever come near me again!" she said her voice going teary on the last word as she walked out crying leaving from there. He hoped she'd turn back and run into his arms but she left, he stared at the ground, feeling the tears well up in his own eyes. Pratigya came home fast. "I'm going to bed" she said passing Varun and her dad on the sofa. "you were right, everything you said" she said wiping her cheek, running up the stairs. "Varun I'll just come in a minute"

"Pratigya wait" called her father. "why so you can tell me I told you so, I didn't listen to you, everyone warned me off him but.." she sobbed.

"Hey beta" she was broken he could see that.

"daddy" she cried into his arms. "oh beta, I'm sorry you are going through this" he said holding her.

"shall we at least call him an ambulance?" Shakti chuckled "lil bro when will you get it, you don't need to be sorry they deserve it ,if they can't pay for the goods then"

"they must be sad in their lives if they are doing drugs no normal person would"

"oh just shut up!, sometimes I wonder how on earth are we from the same blood"

"sorry don't get angry, I get it, they deserve it, if no payment talk to the fist"

"that's what I am saying little bro." He got Krishna in a playful headlock. Once Shakti made himself absent he quickly called the ambulance for the man Shakti's men just got beaten up. He tried to call Pratigya again but she didn't answer his phone. Since that night Pratigya waited for him to call, she needed to hear him give an explanation as to why.. but he didn't call, and looking at her phone was just making her cry, so she gave the phone to her dad, and it had been 3 days since, she told herself to forget him but it wasn't easy "Dad i need my phone now, I need to call a friend." He nodded and gave it back to her. She opened it and saw 50 miss calls from Krishna and that changed everything in her mind. "Varun what else shall we get for tonight's dinner?" Pratigya stayed home, she stared at the phone her mind contemplated whether to listen to his voicemail or to delete it and him from her life. It would be easy do just that, but why what more can he say to her. She decided to listen to it. "Pratigya this is the last time you will hear from me, I know there is no way forward for us but I just want you to hear my side, I don't want you to think of me as a bad person for the rest of your life, that's not who I am, so please I beg you call me back so I can tell you everything, please give me this chance to clear my name, I still love you" she breathed heavily and squeezed her eyes, wiping her tears. He was sitting in his room, playing his guitar and his phone buzzed, seeing her name flashing his face lit up. "Hello?"

"hi" she replied in a uninterested tone. "Its feels so good to hear your voice" she sighed feeling the same way. "Me, t.. ahem.. so what do you want?"

"to meet you so I can tell from a-z everything"

"fine, where?"

"at the caves later tonight"

"I can't come late"

"ok when is a good time?"

"now, my dad's out with Varun, I'll have to come back before he does.

"ok how about now?"

"ok I'll try come around 7pm, no promises though"

"Ok thanks"

"bye" she cut the line, that was the worst conversation he already knew he has lost her. He just didn't want to admit to himself. It was almost 6:45pm she took her jacket and left. He waited for her.

"I'm here I've not got much time" he turned around.

"oh my god what happened to your face" she rushed over to him, "its' nothing, I " she caressed his bruised cheek, their eyes met. She quickly took her hand away. "so tell me quickly I don't have much time"

"ok um when I was 14yrs when my mum died" he walked in further and sat on the rock " then my dad remarried, I got uprooted and shifted to LA, leaving my nani behind. He coughed. She was about to rub his back but stopped herself and just sat next to him. "and then I started high school, here me and Shakti both, my dad wouldn't give us our fee for studying my step mum stopped it, so Shakti started to deal and then I started to do small deliveries. " I didn't know what I was doing he only told me it was to help the other people study its medicine. Then one day I went with him, and he told me to beat someone up, but I couldn't do it and then he hit me, hard." Pratigya's eyes started to fill up, but she looked up to stop them. "Then I hit the guy pretty badly" He confessed not being able to tell this as he was so ashamed. Pratigya was shocked at the same time feeling bad for him. "But I called an ambulance straight away, you have to believe me" she nodded. "I do" he turned to her.

"I'm not a drug dealer but I have been trapped into it I have no choice, I don't like seeing people get hit, after he made me do It I have never done it again I don't take any pleasure in hurting others, I seriously thought I was helping with deliveries like I use to with the maths work. "that's it the whole truth" he looked at her, "ok thanks for your time, and I'm sorry that you had to go through all this, I better get back" she got up. Walking to the exit way.

"no wait" he said getting up and she turned around to face him, "is that it? "give me one more chance please I still love you" he said holding her face. She closed her eyes. Hearing those words,"I still love you too, but its too late we can't be together anymore"

"no you don't mean that you can't" she looked down avoiding his gaze. "look at me" she remained silent. "look at me!" he held the side of her neck making her to face him.

"what?" she said tears streaming down her face. "I don't know what to do I'm so confused." She shook her head looking at him for a solution. "gosh I've missed you" he said wiping the tears away. "I- I've missed you too.." she said breathing loudly trying to stop her tears, he tried to smile but it hurt his cheek. "ow"

"does it hurt a lot?" she gently stroked it. "better now that you touched it" she half laughed half cried, then leaned forwards and held his face gently and kissed his bruise. Holding his face, she looked at him, her mind confused whether to let her lips run away with his. He made the decision for them and crashed his lips on hers. It felt so good to feel him so close again, her mind kept contemplating what to do. She reluctantly broke the kiss.

"we can be together on one condition" she sniffed.

"name it?"

"you stop dealing, and stop all this.

"no, you know I can't do that its not an option" she let go of his hand.

"well neither are we, you have to choose" she said and left him with his thoughts.

Pratigya came home, a few minutes before her father, then she helped put the shopping away. "How has your day been?"

"um ok, what are we having for dinner I want to help prepare it" she smiled. Her father smiled widened. "yes that will be great then you can tell me all about your day"

"If I don't punch your face in so help me"

"bhai please, don't I'm really sorry"

"frankly we want nothing to do with you anymore" she said looking at her step son.

"uhh just get out of my sight" Krishna ran fast from there, he was sweating and afraid. Shakti came to him. "well just because your out of the house doesn't mean you are out of the business you still owe me, I'll see you Friday don't be late"

Krishna didn't ring her, that was clear to her that he didn't choose her. It had been a week since he spoke to her. She spent time with her family and her mum had come from NYC too for a day they had a family day out which was a great distraction. But when she was alone she checked her phone and tears flowed when there was no message from him. "I'm going out I haven't had a good walk in ages" she said to her dad. " we can do that together" said her father getting up. "um dad if its ok I want some me time, just to clear my thoughts. "ok sure beta, have a nice walk" she nodded. "thanks"

She walked along the beach, looking around and she could see him everywhere, his smiling face. Then she saw the cave, memories of it washed over her, she walked over and went in. "K-krishna?" he turned around. "are you living here?" she asked

"what are you doing here, go home" she should really turn around and go but she couldn't.

"what happened, why is your bags here, and your clothes?" she said looking around. He pulled a cigarette out of his pocket. "have you eaten any food, any dinner.. " Krishna ignored her. She took the cigarette from him and stopped him from lighting it up. she threw it to the ground

"what are you doing"

"Krishna what's going on?" he sighed.

"I've been kicked out of home, this is my new home now"

"oh no when, how long, why didn't you inform me?" he looked to her "and say what, we aren't together anymore so..

"it's true we aren't together anymore but we were friends way before that, so"

"I can't go back to just being your friend Pratigya it's too hard and I don't want that" she was quiet. How could she say anything when she herself couldn't agree to that, but she had to stand her ground and be strong. With the way he was looking at her she would easily give in and she can't.

"Have you eaten anything, got any spare clothes" he shook his head. "when did you last eat a decent meal or shaved?" he was quiet.

"ok come over tomorrow" he got hopeful. "no I won't be home, but here is my key, take it and have a shower, a shave and then.." he gave it back to her. "no I'm good" she didn't know what more to say. "ok at least let me bring you a hot meal, or some fruits. "Pratigya its ok you don't have to worry about me, its late your dad will be worrying hmm" he gave her a soft smile. "ok then, I'll see you tomorrow I hope" she didn't know what else to say to him. She walked out of there, she couldn't sleep the whole night, here she was in the comfort of her home, and he was sleeping there without any comforts.

"What changed your mind I thought you wanted to come to the water park with your brother" she turned to her dad. "I did but something came up and Maya needs my help" he dad smiled. "ok sweetie you help your friend we can go to the park next week too" she had starting to like spending time with her dad but someone else needed her more even though he didn't say it but she knew it. She dialled his number. "hello?"

"its' me, um I think you should still come over and get freshened up, and have a bite to eat, and I'll be here to help you if you need anything" he scratched his chin. "ok I'll be there soon"

"ok see you then" she said plainly not getting his hopes up or her own. Within 10 minutes he was there. "come in " she said,"

(the kitchen)

here I prepared some breakfast, take a seat" he looked at her and sat down. She served him pancakes, toast, Croissants, and a glass of fruit juice. Whilst eating he looked up at her. "aren't you going to eat?" she sat down next to him, "I've already eaten"

"oh ok" he said in a small voice. She watched him inhale the food, her heart felt happy he was eating and at the same time sad for his situation, she wanted to ask him exactly what happened but she didn't want to push him over the edge and decided to leave it untill he brings it up. "thanks" he said getting up. "I'll get out of your way now" she got up too. "you can never be in the way" she said in a gentle tone. "Come upstairs and freshen up.. she pulled him by the hand and made him do so. Once upstairs she called him into her room. "Here I did some shopping early in the morning there is a shaving kit, some clothes and a toothbrush, comb and essentials, she gave him the pack and there fingers brushed, He looked up at her.. she slowly let go of the kit. "um the shower is this way" she opened the door to the en-suite bathroom. " up here, this way is hot and this is cold anything else you need?" she turned around to see him gazing at her up, their eyes in a lingering stare, she got up from kneeling and let go of the edge of the bathtub, "anything just give me a shout" she had to get out of their before she gave in. She went downstairs to have glass of water. Then she came back upstairs and sat on her bed, putting some headphones on to forget, just as she took them off, the door clicked and she couldn't help but look up, he came out in nothing but a white towel wrapped around his waist. He was clean shaven, she got up from the bed. "Um I should go let you get changed" as she was about to leave he turned her by the wrist and her mouth fell right on his, they kissed , kissed like there was no tomorrow, her hands roaming all over his semi-nude form. He pushed her against the wall, kissing every inch of upper body, pushing her dress straps down, she found herself wrapping her legs around his waist, feeling his heat emit from the towel. They both looked down and then at each other, then captured each other's mouth in a hungry wild kiss, exploring each other's mouths he lightly sucked on her tongue. His towel fell off and she gasped. She looked around, "oh my god it was dream?" he's still in the shower and this is dangerous territory." She got off the bed and was ready to leave, instead she collided right in front of his chest. "woah" he said steadying her holding her arms. "you ok" she looked at him, he was clean shaven, fresh and gorgeous looking, she nodded quickly and took a step back, "you change I'll just.. ahem.. yeah" she rambled and left. He smiled, knowing exactly what effect he has on her. She sipped her coffee and heard footstep. "I'm going to head um thanks for today and these things" she got up "don't mention it, I'll walk you to the door" they both walked.

"I'll pop by later" she said. "oh ok, I guess that would be nice" he replied they shared a subtle smile and then he left. It was turning 2pm and he just cut the phone in annoyance. "hi, I bought you some lunch, I figured you'll be hungry" He turned to her. "do you want to come in?"

"oh ok I'll stay five minutes then I have to get back, they will be back from the water park soon and then tomorrow they are going camping so I have a date with the tv" she smirked but he wasn't really getting the humour. "Oh here its just a sandwich nothing grand"

"thanks" he placed it on the rock slab.

"so what are you going to do, you can't keep sleeping in the cave" "Hmm, I will rent somewhere once I have cash flow I'm just waiting on it actually so that will be done soon" she went quiet and her expression was obvious.

"no its not that type of money, if you must know I've left that line of work"

"really.. she said a little too excited. " I mean good for you"

"something will come up I'm sure of it" her phone started to ring it's dad I better get this" he nodded. "actually I'll leave now" she said he just nodded not knowing what more to say. "Hi dad, yeah I'm just hanging with Maya, oh already? Did Varun like it... she giggled and her voice faded out as she left the cave. He loved hearing her laugh it put a smile on his face. He thought she left but she came back. "I'm going now, she said and something fell. "sorry I dropped something of yours" she went to pick it up, "its a ring?" she said admiring the beautiful piece of jewellery. "give me that" he said taking it from her. She was shocked at his abrupt action. "Sorry I um its my nani's she gave it to me, for when.."

"for?" she knew exactly what for but she wanted to hear him say it. "I um was going to give it to you when I was gonna ask you to marry me.

"M-marry you?" he nodded, feeling embarrassed. "I had this whole special thing planned. But now i. know its too late." She was quiet. "right?" he said looking up at her, hoping she would say something to change that.

"yeah, I um I should go its um.. late" she said leaving the cave, she couldn't believe it Krishna was going to propose to her, ask her to be his wife. "The love of my life was going to ask me to marry him" she could feel her cheek get moist. "I would've said yes in a heartbeat, why did things go so wrong" she sobbed wiping her cheek, she thought she was slowly getting over him but it just made it 10 times worst knowing how deep his feelings ran for her. She couldn't get her head around it.

The next day came quick, Krishna went for a walk then into town ,to see if he can find a way to get a loan, something came up and he then came back cave in the evening. His home was trashed but red paint everywhere, and he read a sign DEAD MAN WALKNG' he looked around but couldn't see anyone, it wasn't safe to stay here what can he do.

"Precap: Hey?" she stopped when she saw the face. "Krishna you frightened the life out of me, what are you doing here?" He was breathing heavily. "I had no, where else to go, can I stay the night here.. please?"
