The trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Bajirao Mastani was privately screened today and there're many things about it that left us totally bowled over.
Truly, we're spoilt for choice in picking the best things about Bajirao Mastani' trailer. But let's settle for five.
CAST
If you think, you've seen the best of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, wait till you watch the trailer. Ranveer Singh has a very royal demeanour to his character Bajirao. Priyanka Chopra is a sweet charmer as his first wife Kashibai while Deepika Padukone lures with her enigmatic eyes as his second wife Mastani. The trailer stresses more on looks and expressions than the dialogue.
COSTUMES
The costumes are very much in sync with what the royals of the 18th century Maratha Peshwas would wear. Deepika is seen in shararas and kurtis while Priyanka is seen in navwari saris. Deepika plays a Muslim princess.
CINEMATOGRAPHY
A Sanjay Leela Bhansali film is known for its visual beauty. So cinematography is of the essence. The trailer of Bajirao Mastani' packs in some gorgeous shots, with aesthetic lighting and beautiful camerawork.
PRODUCTION DESIGN
It's apparent from Bajirao Mastani' trailer that it's a film supported by huge production design. The grandeur of sets is seen in the trailer.
BHANSALI'S VISION
Last but not the least, it's Bhansali's vision with its aesthetics and poetic nuances that imbue the trailer of Bajirao Mastani'. Though based on a true story, the film looks a daring sweep of imagination intermingled with history.
The trailer will release on the morning on July 16th. It's long and it's beautiful. Watch this space.
