You can easily relate to the film and the character of Rani easily irrespective of the fact that whether you are a guy or a girl from India. From small things like Hing ko English mein kya kehte hai to Banaras mein lassi competition, Vikas picked up so many things from an average Indian's life and I think that's what clicked with the audience. Also the desi humour and a different ending along with a message made it a superhit IMO.

Over all packaging of the movie was very relevant. I am not like her, but I have seen many Ranis around me. Who has mostly done what was cut out for them. A protected, unexposed to the world kind of life.

Rani first obeyed her parents.. then her fiance. She never knew the life.. that she can live on her own. Fight on her own.. explore on her own. As what most girls do, she also weaved her life around Fiance, Marriage. It broke her more than her family when Groom left her on altar.

And the journey that she takes on from there.. discovering different lifestyle.. different approach to things.. different culture. Wonderful.

She discovered her strength.. that she could live on her own.. fight on her own. Survive on her own. It made her so much more stronger as an individual.
And the end.. 👏 where she finally came to know.. her happiness is her own. It does not depend on someone as controlling as her fiance Vijay.
She was still the same cultured, valued Rani but now she got a perspective.. confidence.. individuality. Now she was her own person. 😃

I think the director knew his script and characters amazingly well...every scene was perfect..it's hard to find a flaw...and Kangana could do no wrong in that movie!
the ending was a silent slap on the hypocrisy of the Indian society and that made it all the more special...plus it was super entertaining ..and the entire cast was just perfect..

Queen was special because Rani, her story, her feelings, her friends...everything about her just touched your heart..it was a beautifully narrated story and there couldn't have been a better ending!

Bollywood rarely makes movies as good as Queen!

Anything and everything Bollywood is overrated according to this forum.
The craft of filmmaking aside, I think the biggest reason why Queen worked is the honesty with which the film was made. The internal journey of self-discovery that Rani goes through was inspiring and heart-warming. One of those films where I felt that the writer/director/actor actually wanted to convey something to their audience and used cinema as a way to get their message to the public at large.

On a personal level , movies like Dor, English Vinglish and Queen work for me because the feminism in their narrative is present in a very subdued manner which touches the right chord yet brings out its relevance in a very deep and palpable manner.
