Dhanush's film with Aanand Rai moved to 2016

Earlier this year, it was pretty much on the cards that Aanand L. Rai and Dhanush would come together for another film after the success of Raanjhanaa. However, as things stand today, the film won't go on floors before next year. As a matter of fact, it is yet to be confirmed by Aanand if his next would be the one that he had originally planned with Dhanush, or another film with a different actor.

"The mutual admiration society between Aanand and Dhanush has been unparalleled. After Raanjhanaa, they had decided to make a love story together. Even the dates were more or less finalised as the film was supposed to go on floors this October," informs our source.

This happened in January this year when Dhanush was promoting Shamitabh. Back then, he had even gone on record saying, "Yes, we plan to begin shooting for this love story towards the end of the year. After Raanjhanaa, I wanted to wait for the right script. While some were just not the kind that I wanted to be associated with, some of them were too good for me. I wanted a perfect balance and even if it meant waiting, it was all worth it. I took time to pick and choose."

With Aanand's film as his next, he seems to have finally found his perfect balance'. However as things stand today, the Tanu Weds Manu Returns director could well be beginning another film. Also, neither of the two films would go on floors before next year.

"There is no surprise here though as this is the way Aanand works," our source adds, "After Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Aanand took a couple of years before his next release Raanjhanaa (2013). Ditto for Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) which didn't go on floors immediately after Raanjhanaa. Aanand gets too attached to his films and needs a lot of time to get over them. He needs to be emotionally disconnected from them. If he actually begins his next film early 2016, it would still be a record as he may well have a release back-to-back."

However, the mystery remains on which film will be his first to roll.

Buzz is that Aanand Rai will be making a horror film next. No, he is not directing it, only producing it. He has signed Gaurav Sinha to direct it.
