Isn't this a loutish behavior of some Islamist groups in India that made such an outcry on Surya namaskar and on Om?

Does performing Surya namaskar or Chanting Om somehow change you or your religion? The answer is NO. Absolutely not.

Some mysteries regarding Om is unsolved here. It's an informative post.

http://www.yogitimes.com/article/what-is-om-mean-meaning-sanskrit

Now isn't this bigotry forcing the central government to exclude Surya namaskar as it was dubbed as Hindu religious practice. The Surya namaskar is not about a religion. The Surya namaskar or sun salutation is considered a complete body workout.

Yoga experts say that doing 12 sets of Surya Namaskar translates into doing 288 powerful yoga poses in a span of 12 to 15 minutes.
It helps tone the muscles and is meditative. it makes the body more flexible.

So whatever is happening on the Surya namaskar is absolutely unnecessary. The outcry is caused by ignorant and insecure Muslims { my thought }.

Yoga is not a Hindu gift to the world. It is an Indian gift. Ruckus is being created on yoga in a place it originated. It's a shame.

Anything that was developed in the subcontinent before the Muslims and the Christians came here, is given a religious colour and associated with Hinduism. Just because Hindus developed it doesn't mean the substance also somehow becomes Hindu. Ayurveda is a form of medical science, Yoga is a form of exercise and meditation, the classical dance forms and ragas of India are just dance and song routines, but all these are viewed as 'Hindu'. Indian yes, but Hindu? It is akin to saying Allopathy, Gymnastics, Ballet and such things are Christian because they were developed in Christian majority countries.

There was only one religion in India originally, that is Hinduism. So yoga is definitely Hindu. This just goes to prove that Hinduism is the only true religion, the only spiritual one which does not ask people to follow a single holy book or messiah.
Upanishads were the first to say that the universe is a hologram and today, science says the same.

Anyone free to practise yoga btw. But if Muslims don't want to practise, whatever.

In India, anything Hindu is communal and wrong. All other religions are secular.

Its difficult for Hindus to understand why Muslims and Christians find Yoga or Vandemataram impinging upon their religion unless they realise the fact that Abrahamic religions follow a radically different paradigm of thought wrt the nature of divine from that of Eastern or pagan religions. The Abrahamic school of thought is strictly exclusivist in nature where the monotheistic personal God has a 'with me (and me alone) or against me' policy. It doesnt offer you much scope to play with the idea of divine or associate divinity with nature or living beings. There's a well defined line between Creator and Created and the Creator isn't cool with the created being revered in any form, besides him or in his place. Further the belief that there's an anti-god or Satan lurking somewhere out there and working round the clock to sway the believers away from the 'True God' and 'True religion' makes Christians, Muslims and Jews even more paranoid and suspicious of the world around them. Either you belong to the camp of one true god and go to heaven or you belong to the camp of satan and end up in hell. No third option.

Consequently due to this binary doctrine, the Abrahamic believers interpret any form of reverence to any entity (sun, moon, bharat mata, et al.) other than their god as an automatic betrayal to the god.

That is only if you see yoga as a set of physical exercises. But the real yoga is much broader in scope with strong adhyatmic aspects sourced to yoga sutras, upanishads and gita. In fact most of the stretching and breathing exercises are rather recent addition (circa 1900s) to the corpus of yoga and has little to do with the different schools of yoga that has existed since the brahmanas.

Sanatan Dharm advocates yoga for mind, body and soul. The Upanishads deal with the metaphysical aspects of existence.

Yes, there are mythological allegories. And laypeople will never go beyond repeating those stories for salvation.

The atheists are ok with the idea that existence is an accident. But to most deists, this idea is laughable.

Hinduism gives people a code of conduct for life and delves into existential mysteries for those so inclined. It is the only spiritual religion.

Then why is yoga not Hindu. It was created by Sanatanis who wanted to go beyond the mundane. Does Hinduism scare people with a concept of heaven and hell or apostasy? Does it care to convert others to this way of thought?

why did we need this day. Those needed yoga knew it and did it. Those who didnt - anyway wont. I mean there isnt lack of yoga awareness there.
Westerners are butchering yoga asana names with their own interpretations and its more like fad over here... a simple question, if its difficult to accept something as is then they should give it up - why alter something like that
