Though many characters are overshadowed due to the main focus being on the leads, we don't get to see much of the background of some characters as detailed as we'd like them to be. Every character does indeed have their own story to tell and I'm glad that you're giving equal attention to the characters 😳

Tanu Mehta

Tanu Mehta was cut out for the glamour industry from birth - born to the industrialist Sharman and Ananya Mehta, life offered her a silver spoon from birth. Tanu's life was pretty much that of a spoilt father's princess's till she begun her junior college, where she met the man of her dreams Nikhil, Nikhil Sood their senior. It was love at first sight for Tanu - he was young, smart and very chivalrous - they made the most perfect couple and soon enough they were indeed the most spoken about couple in the college.

Tanu was pursuing media and communication studies, she wanted to be a Page 3 journalist by profession and Nikhil wanted to be a film director, they spent the best part of their junior college days in romancing each other and studying hard to make a mark in life - Tanu had no idea what destiny had in store for her. Things changed one night after Nikhil had just passed out, a drunken Nikhil had knocked on her apartment door - A surprised Tanu supported him inside and demanded to know why he was upset - she already knew that Nikhil was finding it difficult to find work, but she wasn't worried, she knew Nikhil was talented and would eventually prove himself - but the news that Nikhil had brought that night, it had shattered her from inside - her father had recently come to know about her and Nikhil's relationship and he was dead against it - Afterall Nikhil didn't hail from an as affluent family as her's, hence he was no match - Tanu had argued with her father for Nikhil, and after exchanging a lot of tears and accusations, her father had calmed down for the time being - but apparently it was not a call of peace, her father had gone out of his way to ruin things for Nikhil, he had lobbied producers against Nikhil and ensured he didn't get work - he wanted Nikhil to be frustrated and vent it out on Tanu, such that Tanu would see sense in what her father had said and eventually leave Nikhil. But things didn't go as per plan - Nikhil had found out about her father's plan and was there that night to tell on him.

Feeling angry, backstabbed, depressed and cheated, Tanu decided to teach her father a lesson, she made a home video with Nikhil and made it go viral along with the word that she - the girl in the video was industrialist Sharman Mehta's daughter Tanu Mehta. As expected, the video cause havoc in the society, and as they say any publicity was good publicity, it helped in bringing Nikhil in limelight - soon the ban on him by producers were lifted and he started getting work - Tanu on the other hand had never imagined she would face this kind of a wrath from her father - humiliated in society by his daughter's doings, he had gone public to announce that he had officially disowned his daughter - suddenly Tanu was dumped into the sea, she had no family, no financial support - when she turned to Nikhil for support, even though initially he did support her, but his growing intimacy with sundry women in the field, his growing misbehavior with her and taunts made her realize, Nikhil has no intentions of taking their relationship seriously - but he gave her shelter for a year - true as the days progressed, staying with Nikhil became more and more difficult, but Tanu really never had a choice - often she would cry sitting in the dark, abusing herself for ruining her life - but the worst was when she found out the truth about Nikhil - her father had never lobbied the producers against him - he had made up that story to use her, to convince her to take a drastic step wherein he could bank on her limelight of being the industrialists daughter - That day, Tanu had learnt a big lesson in life - to not trust men and to be selfish always, because no one else does ever really look out for you.

After she had gone back to her father, and confessed about her misunderstanding, she was allowed to stay in her house, even though he still didn't forgive her, but seeing her mother's pleadings he had obliged - but he had agreed to shelter her for only three months, that to out of humanity not because he recognized her as a daughter.

Soon Tanu faced a new problem, with a home video scandal in her kitty, no news or media house seemed to want to sign her as a journalist - she had a three months deadline, she had to get herself a job, and move out in three months - but as much as she tried, she didn't manage a job in journalism - soon she had to give up on her dream and pay attention to those lousy mails from the casting agencies that came her way ever since the home video was out - she had learnt her lesson, she wasn't going to sign up for any more shady work, but time was running out, so when at the end of two months, she had no work, out of sheer desperation, she agreed to sign up for a photo shoot of a sub-premium lingerie line. This time she knew what the reaction would be, but she really had no choice left, she needed the money to sustain herself after the three months were over - as expected, her father had flipped at her outrageous act when the promotions were aired, and she once again found herself without a shelter.

But now she thankfully had some financial support, she rented an apartment in a low budget area and moved in there - but thankfully after the promotions, she was continuously getting small projects to work on, there was an advertisement of detergents, fabric whitener, dishwasher etc.

From the contacts she built, she was selected for being a background score for a promotional event of the ever-famous Rockstar Abhi - it was during the shoot that she accidentally bumped onto the rockstar's sister - Aaliyah - Aaliyah Mehra, her childhood best friend from school - they had lost touch ever since their junior college days. When Aaliyah had seen Tanu, she was pleasantly surprised, but also a little shocked to see her sign up for petty things such as a background scores job - Aaliyah was away from the country for graduation, she was in the States, and was blissfully unaware of Tanu's plight, but that day sitting in her vanity when she heard Tanu's story, she was shocked to the core - her heart went out for Tanu and she decided to intervene.

Ever since then, there was no looking back, she still remembered how Aaliyah had pulled her by her wrist and had taken her to her broher's green room.

"Bhai, this is my best friend from childhood Tanu - she is in trouble - I want you to replace your lead lady in the album video, with her." Aaliyah had simply demanded to her brother as Tanu looked at her in panic, but the Rockstar did the strangest thing ever, he simply glanced at Tanu once and turned to Aaliyah and smiled, "Your wish is my command, princess".

After appearing as Abhi's leading lady in his album, Tanu's career had taken off at an abnormal pace, there were offers flooding in from everywhere, from endorsing big brands, to advertisements, to ramp modeling to everything she could think of - her image improved over night - it was like the whole country was in a frenzy - Tanu Mehta was all they could absorb in their head - and after a long time, Tanu basked in the admiration and fame - it got to her, it made her giddy and ambitious, and if there was one thing she knew for sure, come what may, she wouldn't let this success and her career fade away - it was this career that had kept her glued when life went haywire for her - she couldn't depend on her parent's but she could on her career.

After sometime in the industry, Tanu's success cleaned her off reputation too, and with the efforts from her mother's side, her relationship with her family was imporving too - it never became the same though, they were at best, silent spectators of her life, who dwelled in the periphery - that was it, they were her namesake family - her real family was only Aaliyah.

Over the years, the Rockstar Abhi, became just Abhi for her, they were friends and soon became much more than friends - what clicked with Abhi was their mind-set, both valued their career over their relations and that was perfect, both were ambitious and both were in a career path were commitment meant fall in USP.

They were together because they like it, they were lovers but they had no plans of hitching, this worked perfectly for both, unless of course, Aaliyah returned from Australia, this time as her destroyer - Tanu still thinks, that even though Abhi was mad and had broken up with her when he proposed her to marriage, he would have come around in due course of time, she would have convinced him too - but with Aaliyah this time came her misunderstanding and her feeling of indebtedness towards her played a fair share (mixed with personal selfish desires too) when she agreed and convinced Abhi to marry that behenji'.

When Abhi had proposed to her, no one knew the dilemma she faced, risking her career for love - hadn't she done it once and suffered the brunt? Was anyone worth parting with her career and fame for? What if Abhi ditched her like Nikhil had? Now she was a big name, the shame would be bigger, would she be able to succumb and make her place back where she is today? She loved Abhi, but she was bitten once, she couldn't risk it - nothing was worth risking her haven for - her haven, her career - she was for once correct being selfish and choosing security over love - what did she know, soon her mind will change but it would be too late by then.

Life was never the same after that behenji' entered Abhi's life - their relationship in a way mirrored before Tanu what her and Abhi's relationship could be had she not rejected him - if Abhi was this dedicated and loyal to his namesake wife, there was no doubt that with her his loyalty would never fade - he loved her so much.

Over time, Tanu became jealous and demanding towards Abhi, she even used her parents and brought them back to the picture to pressurize Abhi for leaving Pragya and coming back to her, but nothing was working, Abhi was growing distant from her everyday - her insecurities were driving him further away - and she was helpless, added to that when she and Aaliyah had managed to get Pragya kidnapped, Abhi had even taken a bullet for her to ensure her safety - that was a call for trouble - somewhere deep down Tanu already knew she had lost the battle - she thankfully still had a career - well it wasn't at it's peak either - ever since Abhi got married and rumours about their breakup was in the air, her demand and popularity had considerably fallen - but there was still something to fall back on and now not to mention her family, they were back in the frame too, but in her heart she knew, Abhi was her one-stop shop - her ticket to a high flying career and social stability.

Depressed by the continuous closeness between Abhi and Pragya, she was sitting alone in a bar one day when from the shadows of the dark came out a known face from the past - Nikhil Sood.

This time Tanu wasn't caught off guard, she had the perfect smile in place just for him - time for the sweet fruits of revenge - of course she will accept whatever gibberish he offered as reasons for his behavior, of course she will, it was the spider's web Nikhil was walking into without knowledge - Tanu had come a long way since he destroyed her - now was her turn, now she would make him suffer just the way she suffered - now she will show him what pain is - it was time to separate another father and his child, and also now was the time, to trick Abhi into coming back to her life, if not for love, well then for responsibility - responsibility of his so called child.

Hence smirked Tanu, when finally after a month down the line, her reports confirmed before Pragya that she was pregnant - she was finally in full control of her life.
