Ajay Devgn replacing Anup Soni on Crime Patrol? Here’s what we know about the new season

Ajay Devgn is set to join Crime Patrol 2026 as a special host, but contrary to recent reports, he is not replacing Anup Soni as the show’s host. The upcoming season will air on Sony Entertainment Television and stream on Sony LIV.

The development was announced on August 10, following which reports suggested that Ajay had taken over from Anup Soni, who has remained closely associated with the crime series over the years. However, those reports are reportedly incorrect.

According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, Ajay will only host select episodes of the upcoming season. The source said, “Ajay Devgn has definitely not replaced Anup Soni as the host of Crime Patrol. Ajay has come on board as a Special Host and will be seen hosting only a select few episodes.”

The source further explained that the makers wanted Ajay to be part of the new season because of his wide recognition among Indian audiences. Ajay was also reportedly interested in the format, while the limited episode commitment allowed him to take up the project despite his existing schedule.

“There will also be a primary host who will anchor the episodes that don’t feature Ajay Devgn. The makers, however, are keeping the identity of this host under wraps for now. An announcement is expected in the days to come,” the source added.

Ajay also spoke about joining the long running crime series. In a statement, he said, “Coming together with a show like Crime Patrol feels like a responsibility to my fans and viewers. The show has built a legacy of understanding crime stories while driving awareness among viewers, encouraging them to become more vigilant about the people around them and who they interact with and trust.”

He added, “As we bring to the forefront some of the stories inspired by cases that have shaken the nation, I hope and believe that I can help and guide audiences to navigate them with caution rather than fear.”

Crime Patrol 2026 will premiere on August 31, 2026, on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
