Abhishek - More than just Rakhi’s bf?

But close friends of the couple have a different take on the situation. Ravi Kissen, Rakhi's housemate in Bigg Boss says that today if it wasn't Rakhi no one would even know of him. "I think the fact that Rakhi has groomed him is something that is very apparent in that relationship. He was nobody before Rakhi came into his life. No one knew him...That's a fact that everyone knows. So sure she tells me what to do and she wears the pants in the relationship. If he does anything without her permission woh usse kachcha kha jayegi!" says the Bhojpuri actor.

A close friend of the actress says that on many occasions she has seen Abhishek playing second fiddle to Rakhi. "Have you ever seen him speak a word when he is out with her? He only roams behind her and does what she wants. He only talks about her… when does he promote himself? The two knew each other for years but only when she was in Bigg Boss she realized her love for him. I think that this is some cheap publicity stunt that she did at that time and nothing else!"

Abhishek Awasthi won Zee Cinestars ki Khoj a couple of years back but he hasn't been able to capitalize on his win. He met Rakhi through a producer who wanted both of them to play leads in the film. And although the film got shelved the two continue to develop their friendship and Abhishek was completely besotted with the item girl. He now works as her business manager to a large extent at least as far as dealing with the media is concerned. He answers her phones and sets up interviews and photo sessions for the actress. He also accompanies Rakhi to most events and parties but in addition to being her escort he also plays the role of bearer. At the recent Buddha Mar Gaya premiere he was seen fetching food for her and every time someone came over to speak to the actress, she would unceremoniously hand over her popcorn to Abhishek while she continued to play to the gallery.

On another occasion Rakhi got into an argument with a photographer who had gone to shoot both her and Abhishek practicing for Nach Baliye 3. The shoot had been arranged by Abhishek but on seeing him Rakhi got quite cross and told off both the official present there and the photographer. "She basically told me that this is not how it should be done. The organizers must tell me at least a week before then I will tell them when you can come. Even when I tried to reason with her that it had been set up with Abhishek she refused to understand. And the best part was Abhishek was right there in the room and he didn't once open his mouth to explain to Rakhi that he had okayed my presence there," says the photographer.

Shakti Kapoor, the couple's co-contestant in Nach Baliye 3 and close friend of the couple, says that the public may have misunderstood the relationship that the two share. "He is the silent one. But I think that shows his strength. Obviously of the two, Rakhi talks a lot more so it appears that she bosses him around. I agree she does tell him what to do, where to go, whom to meet but I think that's her concern," says Shakti, "She has seen the way the industry works and Abhishek wants to become an actor. So she is only guiding him… I don't think there is anything wrong in her therefore telling him how to live his life if he wants to make it in Bollywood."
