Television doesn't often give an actor the liberty to experiment with a character " be it positive or negative. And it's only after a long wait that they manage to break away from a set image. But not in the case of Mayank Gandhi.
The actor, currently seen playing the character of a positive businessman Rishabh Zubair in Yash Patnaik's Million Dollar Girl, will soon enter the same producer's other show, Veera in a negative role. He will play a Punjabi in it. "It's not just about the shade of the two characters, but also the background. While Rishabh is an NRI, my character in Veera is of a village sahukar," he says. Ask him if it's difficult to play two diverse characters at the same time and he replies, "I have the experience of playing both. The challenge is the dialect, I'm concentrating on getting that right now. Also, the audience connects with believable characters and that's how an image is made. So, I try to portray characters accordingly."
