Bollywood Bad Man becomes US comic book villain

Bollywood bad man Gulshan Grover will be appearing as a major character in a US comic book, Nephilim. It will be a first for any known Indian star.

Gullu will be appearing as the leading villain, Azazel in the comic. Also in the pipeline is a multi-dollar movie project based on the same book later this year, where Gulshan is going to play Azazel.

Created and directed by Danny Wilson and produced by Susan Moses, the comic book is a fortnightly. Keeping GG's likeness, physical features as reference, various artists in New York are working on the art work for the Comic to create the powerful Azazel.

An excited Grover told us, "Yes, I have made history. I am very happy and proud to be the first man from Bollywood to feature in a comic book of America. The company had seen many movies of mine. They approached my agent in USA who in turn approached me. It was a good deal. This comic book will out in the market from this month onwards. Also a movie is coming up on the same subject. I am confident that I will make my character a memorable one."

About Grover as their choice, Producer Susan Moses says from LA, says, "We decided to cast Bollywood star Gulshan Grover because he has a universal demographic appeal. We wanted to introduce a powerful Indian character and he was the best choice. He's also a known name in the Western market. His performance in Hollywood films like Jungle Book II is loved by the Western audiences."

Creator and Director, Danny Wilson says, "The bad man of Bollywood, Gulshan Grover's screen persona and the variety of characters that he has played is really fascinating. Myself, Producer Susan, casting director Michael Sonntage and my creative team watched many of his films, looked at hundreds of his photographs. It was difficult for us to decide what sort of character to create. We finally decided and created our very own villain, Azazel."

Further praise comes in the form on Michael Sonntage of Los Angeles based Studio C Casting, He says, "Gulshan is perfect for Azazel. His body of work, in India and international cinema is worth applauding. Also, Gulshan was very close to being cast the villain in James Bond that adds to the sizzle as well."

Gulshan Grover featured in last Friday released, Dhoka and will be seen next in Sanjay Dutt produced, Woodstock Villa. He also stars in Hollywood projects, The Prisoners Of Sun along with Charlie Chaplin's grand daughter Carmen Chaplin and Shoot At Sight. Both are set for release in 3 months time.
