Yesterday i saw in Bengali Channel " Star Anando" Prashant's visit to his hometown.

I was shocked to see the COMMUNITY FEELING the Nepali's have. The whole Darjeeling almost was full of people and no place for an ant also. Prashant's Jeep was passing very slowly.

Besides his FRATERNITY PEOPLE in Kolkata was so supportive of his show in Police Body line some hall.

I am sure all of you will agree that amongst the three top Prashant is the weakest. Though I like Prashant's voice and being untrained in music he is good and doing fine but needs to improve which he will certainly do and get trained as he is very dertermined to do well in music line.

But Amit and Emon is not receiving that much support from the Community. I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THIS. What a feeling and love the Nepali Community has for their fellow people and Prashant's Fraternity too.

I WISHED KOLKATA HAD THE SAME FEELING AND EVEN OTHER STATES OTHERWISE GOOD SINGERS LIKE KARUNYA AND SOME WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OUT.

Either the state does not care for their own people winning like the DARJEELING people are so overwhelmed to see their people first on the show and then brought him to top by voting enough.

Why i bring Community point here is because Sony itself introduces the Contestants by their state as so and so ..... from ........State etc. SO THEY RECEIVE MORE SUPPORT AND VOTES FROM THE RESPECTIVE STATE OFCOURSE WITHOUT SAYING "PROVIDED THEY ARE GOOD SINGERS." Unfortunately some states votes even if they are not good singers also.

But i think here EMON AND AMIT being good singers and definately better than Prashant is not getting the community or state support that much. It showed in yesterdays channel that they stopped Emon's show by making noise ( Probably the Police Fraternity did not give support to the show to run smoothly or some deliberate disturbance by Prashant's fans , the news did not mention any proper reason but only said it was stopped)

I call upon all Kolkata people to vote for EMON and AMIT whoever you like as they have reached the top 3 and they are definatly good singers.

PL WAKE UP KOLKATA AND VOTE GENEROUSLY FOR YOUR EMON

Win or lose, Amit's the Idol
- 40000 screaming fans welcome singer home in shillong
OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

Shillong, Sept. 3: An unassuming youth who left Shillong some months ago in pursuit of a dream returned home today a phenomenon.

Donning the Khasi warrior's attire, complete with a turban, and flashing that winning smile, Amit Paul looked every bit the Indian Idol that he aspires to be as hometown Shillong gave him a reception to remember.

Frenzied fans followed him everywhere ever since he touched the Khasi heartland, Mawlai. A similar welcome awaited him at Umroi. Girls dressed in their traditional best and representing the three tribes of Meghalaya — Khasi, Jaintia and Garo — screamed as he waved to the crowd.

Amit also visited his alma mater, St Peter's School at Dhankheti. Police had a tough time controlling the crowd. To their credit, they managed the 40,000-strong crowd at the J.N. Stadium well just when it looked like a stampede would spoil the show.

The Sony TV representatives accompanying Amit were stunned. They admitted to not expecting such an incredibly hysterical homecoming for the lad.

The Shillong Arts and Music Lovers' Forum toiled overnight to put up the stage and set up the sound system at Polo Ground. Amit did not disappoint the fawning home crowd, singing the two songs that made him the judges' favourite on the Indian Idol 3 stage — Nasha Yeh Pyar Ka Nasha Hai and Pehla Nasha Pehla Khumaar — with elan. The crowd crooned with him, raising their hands in the air and clapping excitedly.

Addressing the gathering, Amit said he was delighted to be home, even if for a day. He looked a little tired, but you could not tell it from his performance. Once he gets the microphone, Amit just comes alive. "He is a deadly performer," one of the organisers said.

It took much persuasion from the organisers to keep fans from mobbing their idol. Polite to a fault, Amit appealed to them to "please step back a little". He then engaged the crowd by asking them to sing along, karaoke style.

Chants of "We want Amit" echoed across the huge stadium. After singing six songs, including his favourite Khasi number Nga dang iai kynmaw iaphi baieied, Amit was whisked off by security personnel.

Meghalaya police deployed their special operation troops to provide security to Amit. The Shillong lad wanted to travel to all localities to thank the residents for their support, but Sony TV's strict schedule for its protg was the spoiler. In any case, traffic had gone haywire as people invaded the streets just for a glance of him.

For Amit, another source of disappointment was not being allowed to stay at home. Such is the price of fame that Shillong's first reality television star was left with no choice but to spend the night at Air Command House for security reasons. Air Marshal P.K. Borbora made the arrangements for his stay there.

Amit will leave for Guwahati tomorrow morning, from where he will head back to Mumbai for the final leg of the contest. As for his fans here, they will just have to continue the SMS spree or call the designated BSNL number to vote for him. Mawlai legislator P.T. Sawkmie has sponsored 40 PCOs to enable Amit fans to vote.

"We just hope the public euphoria translates into votes," said Sweety Pala, a producer of new-generation Khasi films.

Going by the reception accorded to Amit by his fans, vote they will. Never had the town seen such an assembly in one place and perhaps not in a long time to come.

Thanks for the information. I switched channel so i mut have missed Amit's show. Very sad. They showed Prashant's show live on tv.

Ok happy to hear about AMIT. What i mean is that let all the three get enough support from their respective state or community and let the best + lucky one win.

It should not be that Amit and Emon lacks behind just for support of their state and people which Prashant is getting in abundance then there is imbalance. If they were not good singers i would have accepted whatever is happening. But surely both are good singers.

In Shillong : Amit overwhelmed by Public Response
Overwhelmed with the gigantic support he received, Amit Paul, the Shillong lad who had made to the top three finalists of the popular show - Indian Idol 3, said that he was deeply honoured to see the love and affection that the people of Shillong, and Meghalaya in general, had showed upon him while adding that this was like a dream come true.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Amit said that he did not expect that a sea of humans would turn up to receive him. As token of appreciation to the honour that the people of Shillong have bestowed on him, Amit said that not until today, he had been competing for the coveted title for his own personal gain. But on witnessing the massive response from the people on Monday, Amit said that from today he would compete to win the Indian Idol title, not for himself, but for the pride of the people of Shillong and Meghalaya.

"Whatever efforts I had made in my past performances, I will try to double that in future so that I can live up to the faith and trust the people had bestowed upon me, and that is, to bring home the Indian Idol title," Amit said. Amit also assured the people that even if he achieves success in his quest yet he will remain the same person that he always is while adding that Shillong is always his hometown.

Amit was also elated by the decision of the State Government to appoint him as an Ambassador of Peace and Communal Harmony. He was particularly happy that through the Indian Idol show, he was able to spread the name of Shillong, not only to various parts of the country but to foreign countries as well. On his message to the youth, Amit called upon the youth to follow their dreams and give their best shot to convert their dreams into reality.

Dear anjalibc,

I can not understand the community issue raised by you. Everyone is being supported by community whether is it Amit, Emon or Prashant! But why you are mentioning about Prashant only? And try to be neutral dude when you analyse thing or else don't analyse and just put up your personal thought only. You can say Prashant is the weakest among all but no need to say "all of you will agree" coz many of the members might feel Prashant as the strongest. All people have their own choice and preference and it is not necessary that what you say is to be agreed by all. By the way, i heard Amit's mother is a Nepali while father is a Bengali.😛 😛

Please do not bring regionlism issues into discussions here. The show may promote it, but here everyone is equal and we will not promote regionalism. 😊
