| Rachit Gupta Nach Baliyereturns for its much awaited third spell and this time on STAR Plus. The contestants were revealed in a grand function that was a visual treat. But, does all that grandeur guarantee success? "Nach Baliye 3 will be three months of engaging themes where we will have our contestants go through several tuff tasks, like a blindfold test. Let's just say yeh naach nahi hai aasaan," revealed Vidyasagar. Programme innovations like these help add a fresh and new appeal to reality shows and STAR has plenty of such plans for NB3. The ten couples that will go through the rigmaroles of a reality show based on Bollywood style dancing were showcased for the first time on a dais as grand as one had ever seen. Amidst a lot of glitter and glitz the couples danced on individual themes that were presented in the most lavish manner. Emerging from the frantic laser lights, the spotlight revealed some elaborate costumes draped in perfection. Be it Rock n Roll, Spanish Tango, Salsa, Siberian dance, Oriental Chinese dance or those hip swinging Arabic moves, the stage seemed to have a collection of the world's best and most sensuous dancing forms. The couples performing these exotic art forms had the starting jitters, but that is expected, since most were making stage debuts. To spell out the names, the list of contestants includes Sweta Keswani and Alex O'Neil, Karan Patel and Amita Chandekar, Rakhi Sawant and Abhishek Awasthi, Shakti and Shivangi Kapoor, Vikas and Amita Sethi, Karan Grover and Kavita Kaushik, Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh, Kashmeera Shah and Krushna Abhishek, Kiran and Ritu Jhanjani and last but not the least, Pooja Bedi and Hanif Hilal. A run through these 20 names and the most striking thought that comes to mind is most are not even top stars from the television industry like was the case in the earlier seasons. "Our line-up of stars has had an upgrade. The earlier shows had contestants primarily from the television arena, but this time around we have names from Bollywood as well," said Vidyasagar elaborating on the fact that including Bollywood was an important part of the plan to get bigger and better. But the fact is Shakti Kapoor and Kashmeera Shah are not going all guns blazing in Bollywood and their current popularity cannot be banked upon. For STAR having Rakhi Sawant as a part of their show is a big incentive though. Her recent popularity seems to soaring the charts and her knack for controversy might give the show's TRP ratings a rocket boost. Rakhi's reply on her ability to make headlines was "Thoda intezaar karo. Show shuru hone ke baad sab dikhega." The move from STAR One to STAR Plus might suggest that STAR is trying to pull back some numbers on its declining TRP ratings for Plus. But dismissing all speculations about controversy, intentions and future plans Vidyasagar commented by saying that "Nach Baliye 3 is a family show that will allow people to fall in love with its contestants, dance and encourage youngsters to take up this art" The show is set for an end of September release and while nothing about the judges was revealed, Vidyasagar did say that they would unveil further details in two weeks' time. https://www.screenindia.com/fullstory.php?content_id=16960 |
