Kareena is more popular and creates more buzz. Just look at the top actresses rank...Kareena is always ahead of Aish. International doesn't really matter. Even the Slumdog M girl (forgot her name) is more popular internationaly than Bebo or any other bollywood celeb. What does being popular in america get aish other than walking the red carpets and Cannes. Which Sonam and Kat do now too. So there is that.

If I ask my white friends who AIsh is I bet you none of them will know who she is.

And from what I know and notice none of her hollywood flms made any impact. In fact she got really lame roles. People like Mindy from the mindy project is someone who is well known in America more than Aish. Or the indian guy from big bang theory. People exaggerate Aish being popular internationally so much.

Ash any day!! She is miles ahead of the other one in every aspect.. Kareena would have disappeared in to woodwork by 2002 had nepotism not ruled Bwood!!!🥱

Another 'Global Icon' Aishwariya Rai!!

She's had a 10 minute role in Pink Panther 2, a straight to DVD release The Last Legion and small budget Indo-British films like Provoked, Bride & Prejudice.

I just wish people would stop calling every Indian that's worked in a couple of hollywood films a global superstar or icon.

As for the question, its hard to say. If I would have to guess I would say Ash is more popular down south while Kareena is more popular up north. Its too close to call either way.

Aish is more popular if you take into consideration the International factor. She got mutlple Oprah interviews, pretty close seats at the Oscars, Robert Frost interview, etc. I know people are like whateffs! big deal! But I'm sure if it were their favorite instead of Aish, it'd be a big deal. When she first hit the HW spotlight, she was literally on every big news outlet (60 mins, GMA, CBS) and people made a big deal. Even her wedding was covered internationally. She just had bad script sense 😆 and rejected some really good roles--missed opportunities, but the interest in her waned.

The one common thing about them is both are highly in demand post-marriage. Both are unaffected by flops--which is rare. And both are really well-liked in the industry hence they are known to be director's first choice and if look at the stuff they reject--every acting heavy, meaty female parts. Regionally, Kareena does better in the north and Aish the South. Kareena is better in rom-coms and comedies, Aish can't do that. Aish is better with more graceful, dance-centric, periodic roles, which Kareena really hasn't attempted (unless we count Asoka). So they level out.

Bride and Prejudice was not a small budget film 😆

Its not a close call, Aishwarya is a global icon and Kareena is popular just where Bollywood audiences are concerned. If you ask any non-south asian person to name an actress from bollywood almost ALL of them will say Aishwarya.

I don't think Kareena's better. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Kareena can't do stuff like Devdas or Umrao Jaan and Ash probably can't do a JWM.
