I think the channel picks the songs or gives the contestant a list of songs to choose from. They probably have the final say in who sings what or if there should be any changes.

Prashant being a non-trained singer is doing pretty good too. He has a soothing voice and majority loves him. So if it is public voting then they have right to select whom they like the most.

Did he? That is so nice of him. I miss Kumar Sanu's presence in the music industry. So I hope Prashant gets to sing Hindi songs too. He will be a hit because of his voice quality and also the fact that majority who votes for him will buy the album and make it top grosser.

What has spelling ability got to do with singing? Will he be taking part in Spelling Bee contests or singing? Or are you implying that Udit, Sonu etc actually SPELL their songs, instead of SINGING?

So does Udit, but that didn't stop him from being one of the top singers in Hindi movies now, did it? Similarly, I'm sure Yesudas and SPB have accented Hindi too, but does that make them bad singers?

You are from Pakistan so I'm sure you are aware of differences between Hindi and Urdu. Kindly pay close attention to the Urdu parts- here I'm talking about 'Kh' as in Khan, the second Kaaf and Ze (as opposed to Hindi words) sung by II 3 top 10 and see for yourself that other than Chang nobody can nail the 'Urdu' pronciations as cleanly as Prashant has been doing!! Yeah, he has slipped once in a while in a few Hindi words, but that doesn't mean anything. There are diction specialists to assist in that. You do not have to be fluent/accent free in order to 'sing' in a particular language.
