Shouldn't it be again a choice. If a women wants to cover all or not. You can advocate me to not wear burkha I can advocate you to not wear bikini but its to each there own. Till its not a islamic country. But even islamic countries dont follow there sharia law properly. Sharia is just used to kerp going there dictatorship these days.

Also ppl justify most pathetic things as in homosexuality, wars (i.e justifying israel), threesome, drinking, drugs, why shudn't polygyny be allow??

If u tell me homosexuality is their personal choice, drinking is up to those who drink, threesome why not if they love it, Then y not polygamy. Please can someone freaking raise other issues and even focus on them some of the time.

Why did I even bother to read the whole thing after reading these lines.

KJ (If I may call you so) it is impossible to have a decent debate on religion in the online space.

Ya sure, SOS. 😆

@bold: Till one point, I can try and argue but after a certain limit...I'd be like, "Why am I even doing this?" 😆

Yes, Aamir Khan should question circumcision in his next film. It is traumatic for the babies and has no health benefits. When women have sex with circumcised men, they don't cream and therefore need lubricant. Orgasm is a far cry.

No one has a problem with questioning Islam what most people do is mock it. Drawing pictures of the prophet and mocking it how is that questioning Islam?
Today if i draw a gay couple and mock them i will be called a homophobic, if i draw a photo of the holocaust or even a Jew and mock it i will be called anti-semantic and people won't call it freedom of speech. But being insensitive to Islamic beliefs and mocking their most revered prophet is called freedom of speech. And that's a double standards for me.

so? Charlie Hebdo was known for drawing offensive pictures on the pope, jesus and catholism as well. When will people understand that anyone is free to question any belief system. Blowing people will not prevent that, if anything it further undermines the sad impression people already have of said religion.
Religion should NOT be taking too seriously, that's when problems arise, how the f**k are you going to kill someone for poking fun or question a religion? LMAO. Only the insecure result to violence. Justifying sorcery with 'well that's offensive' is wrong. let ppl say whatever they want about an issue, as long as your faith in your heart is strong it should not bother you.

There are double standards definitely. Everyone else's religion is up for scrutiny, but question the holocaust, and the ADL is after you.

IMO, it's not a good idea to question anyone's religious practices.

Nothing good can come out of it. Don't make movies on any religion, period. ESPECIALLY if the religion is NOT your own.

Raju Hirani could make PK because he himself was Hindu.
Pakistan could make Khuda Ke Liye because the majority is Muslim and so was the director.
It's basically the difference between criticizing someone else or indulging in self criticism. You can get away with self criticism but not with criticizing someone else, no matter how legit or valid it is.

And not to mention the power dynamics coming into play. You can criticize a group that is already in power because they are not vulnerable. But if a group is already a minority, and there's a history of conflicts, it's really not a good idea to make a movie questioning their religious practices.
Like I said, Khuda Ke Liye was about Islamic practices, and that is the majority group in Pakistan.
PK was about Hindu practices, and that is the largest group in India I believe.

how about people stop killing in the name of religion. who are we to demand everyone stop question our religion and the practices because we don;t like it? Our faith should be strong enough to get over other ppl questioning it. We shouldn't result to violence, nor force people to not question something they do not believe in. You don't want your religion questioned you dont question your religion and get over anyone else doing it. How does that take away from your personal relationship with your god and religion?
Religion is a batshit crazy manmade belief system which ppl take way too seriously. Especially countries that are based on patriarchal societies such as ours and all the arab nations.
ppl result to violence and commit heinous crimes in the name of honor of their religion when there is no 'honor' in taking another person's life/blowing other people up. same logic applies when it comes to 'honor killings' killing the girl for muddying the name of the family. smh.
there is no honor to be saved/rescued/defended there is no honor in committing those barbaric actions. you kill and blow up places because you want to, because you always had it in you, because you cannot contain your anger and frustration, because you couldn't keep the girl ''in check'' so to speak. these crimes are being committed because those who do so are sociopaths who hide behind the terms 'honor' 'family honor' 'religious honor' etc, bc they are too coward to admit they are pure evil and demonic trying to justify their actions while hiding behind an umbrella, unfortunately even dumber ppl believe them and justify their actions for them.

Thousands of jews migrated to Israel in recent years from countries such as France to Israel, because they felt a growing antisemitism. Maybe in the US its more difficult to say anything but in other places its not.
the holocaust is often questioned, also what is there to be questioned when its well document, how thousands of people died? Have you spoken to even one holocaust survivor escaping the KZ camps? I did, and the angst pain and anguish was real in that old lady's eyes.
