Sanyukta woke up a four that morning to see her bed empty. With a sigh, she got off her bed and tied her hair up before going into the bathroom to shower. It was a regular thing to wake up in the morning and find Sameer missing.
In a way, it was a relief because that would mean that he wouldn't expect anything from her. She didn't want to even talk to him nowadays with the kind of person he had become... plus she needed to take care of her baby.
After she freshened up, she dressed in a simple salwar suit and braided her hair. Then she went downstairs to make breakfast for everyone. She wanted to leave before anyone woke up because she still hadn't thought about what her excuse would be to leaving home everyday.
Once she finished preparing breakfast and setting everything in closed containers on the dining table, she wrote a note: Going to visit my family. I'll come in the evening.
She didn't know for how long she could use the excuse that she was going home, but she didn't have anything better yet. Surely, something would work out... it had to work out.
As soon as she got to work, at 6:30 in the morning, she walked up to Randhir's cabin. She was early, and she didn't think he would be in yet. Seven in the morning sounded outrageous for her, but it did work well for her. It enabled her to leave home early without facing the family.
She knocked on the door. There was no answer. She hesitated for a moment before she turned the doorknob to see it was unlocked. Surprised, she entered the cabin. What kind of CEO would leave his office unlocked?
She shook her head. Why did Randhir have to be so absent-minded? Closing the door behind her, she walked up to Randhir's desk and placed her hands on it, breathing deeply. It felt nice in here... it felt like Randhir.
A wave of nostalgia hit her and her eyes filled with tears as she remembered their times in college. She noticed a coat on top of Randhir's chair, and she assumed that it meant that Randhir was here, somewhere in the building.
Sanyukta walked behind his desk and touched his coat with a light hand, running her fingers over the material.
The cologne on the coat was the same cologne that Randhir used to wear in college, and Sanyukta smiled sadly. Life had been so beautiful. They were so happy.
"What are you doing?" she heard a male voice say quite calmly, causing Sanyukta's head to shoot up, her heart beating erratically.
Randhir stood at the doorway, catching her in the awkward position of being behind behind his desk with her hands running over his coat - she had been so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't even heard him come in.
