Anushka Sharma avoids screening of YRF film that was to clash with her next, chooses to watch it at a city multiplex
The absence of Anushka Sharma from the special screening of Yash Raj Films' latest offering, 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha', has been feeding grist to the gossip mills. Sources say the actress gave it a miss and chose to watch it at a city theatre more or less at the same time.
"Shanoo, the casting director of YRF, held a special preview of 'Dum Laga...' last week and invited a lot of her industry friends, including Anushka. While all the YRF protegs who were in town made sure that they turned up for the event, Anushka decided to steer clear of it. But what was baffling was the fact that she decided to watch the film at the same time at a suburban multiplex," a source says.
Earlier, there were reports that the actress' maiden production, which is due to release next week, and 'Dum Laga...' were supposed to hit the marquee on the same day and she was not particularly happy about it. YRF boss Aditya Chopra then decided to advance the latter's release to February 28 going against recommendations of his distribution team for "emotional reasons".
A YRF spokesperson had reasoned that since both Anushka and 'Dum Laga...' actress Bhumi Pednekar were Chopra's discovery, he wanted to avoid a box office clash.
Dismissing the rumours about being upset with YRF, Anushka's spokesperson says: "She had made plans to watch the film with her friends for which the tickets had been bought much in advance. Though she was invited for the screening, she went ahead with her own plans. After watching the film, she messaged both Bhumi and Ayushmann (Khurrana) congratulating them on their performance."
