So is it hatred? Ego? Arrogance? Attitude? Hell no! It's love, love and only love! The rarest you'll find in any fairytale. But one which will be remembered in the years to come. But you may be thinking why does it always have to be so extreme? So extreme that the plot starts seeming too unrealistic, too unpredictable, too illogical. But that's all the beauty of it... if falling in love was a decision the mind had to take, we wouldn't have so many broken hearts in the world. We wouldn't be unsure of what the cure of a broken heart would be... because then it would've been a wrecked mind. And well an unwell mind means more visits to the psychiatrist and perhaps that would be the most highly paid occupation in our world today. But unfortunately or rather fortunately for some, that's not the case. If our love life's decision would've been a logic-based theory... there never would've been a love story that would've ever failed. Because the solution to every love-related problem would be easy to access from any shelf of the library. If predictability was the crux of every love story, there would be no flavor in life as the phase that one couple might be going through in one household, could easily be the same situation 10 other couples would have gone through two or three days ago. The world would simply be too monotonous. And if realistic measures were to be incorporated in love stories, well then honestly speaking love wouldn't be love. It would just be a strategic, content, organised pages of a rule book that everyone would have to read in order to understand the do's and don'ts, the allowed and not allowed and the rights and wrongs of being in love. So why call his actions, which are nothing but his hurt and pained love for nandini, ruthless, irrational and too extreme? They say everything is fair in love and war... but all he is doing is having that war of love with that one person who he loves the most in his life. It's his way of expressing his passion, his intensity and his need of her. It's his way of conveying her the message that only he has the right to make her life as peaceful as heaven or as tormenting as hell. He is extreme, there is no denial... but we mustn't forget she fell in love with that same extremity. She had the choice of choosing an easy love story. A love story that would be smooth and stable. A love story with Dhruv. She almost thought she would lose her sanity trying to figure out why she couldn't love Dhruv. But when she realised the answer, there was no looking back. She realised she couldn't love Dhruv because she wouldn't be able to feel the emotions that manik's love awoke in her. He wouldn't be able to love the way manik loved her. And now she once again is about to tread on the same path. A path that would lead to a self-realisation. The road which would make Manik realise he can't love anyone the way he loves her.
Those who claim he's heartless, forgot that it takes a heart to feel the pain of love. Those who assert that he is emotionless, forgot that tears are wept when our inner-consciousness is crying. Those who affirm that he doesn't love her, forgot sacrifice is the other name of love. And his love story started with his sacrifice. With his love. Today, we again saw him in his turmoil of whether to listen to the heart or believe his mind. Her touch in sickbay was increasing his heartbeats from inside. So he raised his own voice, to mute the echos of the fluttering heartbeats. Her talks of their life-lasting memories, lit the images of their togetherness alive in front of his eyes. So he decided to take a step away from her and close his eyes. Her tear-filled eyes and the whispering of her words... "tumhare liye ahsaan nahi hoga" made him weak in his knees. So he decided to leave from her sight altogether. She asked him one simple question today... whether it will be easy for him to forget her in the time to come. And he answered just a one-word response... "Haan". It was an answer from the mind. Why? Because it was explanation-less, base-less and reason-less. When we give a content, explained answer, it usually shows the compilation of both the mind's logic and the heart's emotions. But this answer was strictly and solely from his mind as he had no further explanation as to why it would be easy.
Many would argue that clearly his mind won over his heart today. They would support nandini in that maybe it was the last time they'd ever talk again. They would be convinced that it would be the last memory of him that she'll be taking along. But once again, manik's heart proved him wrong. It won over his mind yet again and if only she had turned around to look for him one last time, she would've realised it wasn't the last time she was going to be seeing him. Only once if she had turned around, just once, she would've noticed that this was perhaps the beginning of a bundle of new memories soon to be built.
She sobbed that he didn't stay back to listen to all that she wanted to express through her words. But perhaps if she would've turned around, she would've seen him reading all that she wanted to say to him. Reading it all through her tears. Where his mind demanded him to get out of her sight, his heart convinced him to stay so she would remain in his sight. And so he stood there listening to his heart. Watching her. Knowing it wouldn't be easy if she left. But also knowing he couldn't let her go. And he continued to stand there. Listening to his heart.
