'Best way is in theatres': Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR ask fans to keep War 2 unspoiled

With just days to go for the release of War 2, lead stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR have issued a joint appeal to audiences, urging them to protect the film’s plot twists and surprises. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, hits theatres on 14 August and has already generated significant buzz for bringing the two actors together for the first time.

Both actors released messages requesting fans, media and early viewers not to share spoilers online. The aim, they said, was to ensure that everyone gets to experience the film’s suspense and spectacle fresh in cinemas.

Hrithik, reprising his role as super-spy Kabir from the 2019 blockbuster War, said, “War 2 has been made with a lot of love, a lot of time and a lot of passion. The best way to experience this cinematic spectacle is in the theatres as the constant twists and turns of this dramatic story unfold in front of your eyes. I have a request to make to all of you media, audience, fans please protect our spoilers at any cost.”

Jr NTR, who joins the YRF Spy Universe as an Indian soldier pitted against Kabir, echoed the sentiment. “When someone comes to the theatres to watch War 2, they should feel the same amount of joy, thrill and entertainment as you have felt watching War 2 for the first time. Spoilers are no fun and it hugely impacts the film watching experience. Please give us a lot of love and let the story of War 2 be a secret to everyone... we are counting on you,” he said.

The film also features Kiara Advani in a pivotal role. It is the sixth entry in Aditya Chopra’s YRF Spy Universe, which includes Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan and Tiger 3.

Advance bookings opened on Sunday, with early trade reports estimating ?9.8 crore in pre-release ticket sales. The film will face a box office clash with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Shruti Haasan.

Given the hype and the secrecy surrounding its plot, the success of War 2 may depend as much on audiences keeping quiet about its surprises as on the scale of its action sequences.
