One wonders if destiny preordains what we call Second Place. In a family - the second born- second in a line, win and place on the race course. second in studies ,the second chance, the second man in an organisation, second line of defene, second in charge on a ship on the high seas and the Second Wife.
The question is do these second places never interchange places with the first place .Perhaps never, but change in perception can take the wind out of the sail of first place.Once again its a question of
Changing the mind set--- Ishita's place is second in. Raman's life but not in his heart-- she has displaced all those standing in front of her and now she rules his heart- what difference does it make who performs a ceremonial act or rite with Raman and during the Lohri puja who walks with him or in front of him. For those second placed it is immaterial. For their position is not governed by protocol but by their victory over the other's heart. So Ishita don't fret you have won the battle and that too long since.
