Chapter One: Let my Heart Talk.
"Ishitaaa"
His startled cry reverberated in the office cabin! He slept in the discomfort of his chair once again, trying to avoid every impending issue going on in his life.
He was running, yet his body took him back to where he belongs... or maybe BELONGED!
Nothing was the same, his life had changed 16 days and 7 hours back when he lost her somewhere in the chaos of his life. When his perfect little world crumbled down right in front of his eyes.
He still couldn't figure out how a 12 year old had the power to pierce right into his life and puncture all the happiness out of it. The same 12 year old who was his lifeline, whose arrival 12 years back had brought a lifetime of happiness in his life. The same 12 year old had now single-handedly brought him to his knees in exactly the same way as his mother-in-law had predicted.
Flashback:
Amma: Ek din Raman you will realize that when you need to choose, you will end up choosing your happiness when in actuality you will lose everything.
He had lost her... he had lost himself and he had once again lost everything!
Just then a small hand touched his moist eyes and got him out of his reverie. That same comforting hand which was guiding him in this lost battle.
"Papa... aap phirse yahi so gaye... gandi baat! Once again I had to tell Romi Chachu to drive me here. Chalo ab ghar chalo, dadi intezaar kar rahi hai."
He loved how his mornings somehow started with his angel and the frown on her forehead brought a cute smile to his face. He leaned down and kissed her forehead, held her little finger and walked right into the chaos that he wanted to run away from.
Around 2000 kms South:
"So, when things go south head to the South!"
She couldn't help but smile at that silly little line. She knew it applied perfectly to her. That one line was enough for her usual predicament to start.
She was back to where she belonged, where she was born and bought up, amongst the people who read the newspaper in the same language her appa does, who loved kanjeevaram just like her and where Sambar and rasam were the staple diet. Yet, she was far far away from where she belonged. Where her heart belonged and where her soul in the name of Ruhi still lingered.
Since the past 16 days she had woken up to the smell of filter coffee, bathed in rose scent and donned her simple dresses, just like before she was married, but still something was amiss - her husband, her daughter and her family. The miracle of love she had witnessed had lost it's light somewhere and now she was plunged into darkness. Alone and incomplete she had started her life afresh.
