Frankly...this time the makers have forced me to create this post...editing and direction is a major concern now...and the loopholes are so obvious that we can make out the shortcomings...
Had said it earlier...will repeat it now...creative and artistic things are driven by passion...and wen passion goes missing from things...the patchwork is obvious...one can actually make out the shabby work.
Movie making is one creation which is driven by passion...which thrives on how beautifully you want to project your work on screen.
For me...Gorky..has created one of the rarest male leads on telly...a character which has layers...backed by an actor who can do full justice to the creator's vision of him...but he needs the backing of a strong director.
Coz things which are written on pieces of paper...are brought to life...made endearing to the audience by the actors...and wen a good actor gets the support of an equally good director and editor...u get to see mastery on screen.
Sadly...Direction and Editing are two things which lack in this show.
SaAz wedding was supposed to be a high point in this show... and it was reduced to an epi of mockery...nonsense and crap fest which lead to the epi look like a comedy of errors...rather than an intense epi.
there is simply no limit of the things that can be jotted down...where poor direction and editing were evident.
lets start with the things which were most ridiculous
aarzoo's coal walk...
i agree u had to show drama...u had to show aarzoo punishing herself...but there could've been a better way to show it. u show her walking on coal...standing at one spot for 40-50 seconds on an avg? who do u think is a fool here? no person can survive it...u wanted to show her walking on coal...u could've shown her just walk on it...y dramatise it so much that it looked unreal? u show sahir walking in there...and he just stands and watches her? who in his right senses would allow anybody...forget abt sahir allowing aarzoo(a girl whom he loves)...nobody just stands and watches... they just pull out...aarzoo could've still fallen in his arms...
and if u wanted to imply tthat sahir was too shocked and numb to react...u should've played out his emotions properly...with flashes of his self mutilation...him realising aarzoo is just like him...the scene would've definitely been more impactful.
how did zaki know where aarzoo was ?
there was simply no reason for him to be there...walk in at the same time with aarzoo...
if ur vision was to unite SaAz at the same spot where dargah baba had talked abt their pain connect...zaki was all the more not needed in this shot.
@editing team...
the "qubool hai" was a SaAz moment...u should've let it be their moment rather than intercutting the shots with zaki's face..where he sheds tears...u wanted to show him shed tears...dedicate a full scene to him...but a high point of this kind...just need SaAz shots...
its sad...that in order to keep him in focus...u did not care to show the exact emotions of the faces of SaAz...rather than a side angle...a full focus was needed on their faces...the camera being placed behind both sahir and aarzoo...
and...i might not be a muslim...but i'm married to a muslim...and my knowledge says...weddings not not happen at a mazaar...
religion is a sensitive issue...the creative department could've looked into this matter...
aarzoo...goes missing frm a hall full of ppl...don't u think its ridiculous?...the coal thing could've been done before she reaches the hall...somebody telling sahir she has gone missing...and he brings her in...
wen nikaah is being done...the bride's mother sits with her...nausheen was busy standing near sahir...why?
poor direction is all i will say
the epi was supposed to be intgense...we might've laughed it off...but normal viewers will just change the channel...coz...for viewers to connect to a show...u need to think realistically...little bit dramatisation is oki...but not OTT
coming to the editing team...please take some good lessons in editing...its a request...
it seems...one epi is edited beautifully...and 4 epis go haywire...
see...one thing u need to get very very clear...you need to realise who your leads are...Sahir and aarzoo...so wen u r dealing with their shots...u just have to make sure u don't miss out what is being expressed by the actors ...
u don't bother to capture sahir-aarzoo...ur focus is on everything else...
sahir at present is being shown as manipulative...but he's the hero...u need to capture his emotions so...that after each manipulation...he owns the scene with his emotions...that he has a reason for doing it...u guys just stop at the manipulation...making the audience feel he's the villain...which is wrong...he's ur hero...treat him as one
aarzoo...most shots...the way u cover her...she comes off as arrogant and insensitive...focus on her expression...so that people know her actions might say something else...but her thoughts r totally diferent...
and the montage...
please...let them be SaAz oriented...please do not try mixing and matching...we would any day prefer a montage which showcases SaAz equation...rather than a sneak peak into the upcoming track.
and guys please...buck up...there r people out here who love your show...a little more passion...a big change in direction...and good editing is whats needed.
