I will direct next year: Karan Johar

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Karan Johar opens us about his directorial film, Sanjay Dutt, Arpita Khan's wedding and reception and the Dhyan Chand biopic.

Excerpts from the interview

You haven't directed a film since 2012. When will you do so again?
I'm going to direct a movie next year for sure.

Recently, you took your mother (Hiroo Johar) to the US for some medical treatment. How is she now?
She's much better now, and can move around a bit.

There has been some talk about Pulkit Samrat walking out of your film. Is this true?
I don't know where this news is coming from. I have never approached him; I hardly know the boy. He's very talented, but I have never offered him any film. This project that I am doing is a launch vehicle for a new boy and a new girl.

People who have seen your acting debut (in director Anurag Kashyap's film) have really liked your performance.
I haven't watched Bombay Velvet, and I don't want to see it. I get very nervous. I'm comfortable being myself in front of the camera, but this film was something new for me. It gave me a chance to play a negative role, and that's why I took it up. I'm scared and nervous about seeing it because I don't know whether I have done a good job or not.
