Was YJHD a Blockbuster only because of Ranbir ?

Yes it was very much the same typical story but it was told in a nice way, and was a feel good film. Many films have had the same story line but not many are able to make a mark. It is the way it was told and packaged that made it good. It was another DDLJ where in YJHD the villain was the Ranbir's dreams and not parents otherwise it was the same concept.

I like it because of the memories. I watch in the air plane when I was bored and had nothing to do. There were no good movies or either the ones I had already watched. This was the only one I could find. So I loved it for being there. 😆 So many memories <3

DP actually had better role than RK, IMO.

All these films would have crossed 19 crores(BOI) opening of Besharam easily on a national Holiday.

Big boys are hitting 40 crores..even Ajay Devgn crossed 30 crores.

I dont think so...I like the plot and chemistry the characters created on screen like balancing each other out, jealousy and finally maturing about 10 years later etc.

It always takes a movie not a star, unless you are Salman or SRK...but I feel like they also pick high-budget movies that are ought to do well.

Ranbir has a lot of star power and I love him. But, I think YJHD wasn't a blockbuster because of him, if anyone should get Credit its Ayan Mukherji, the way he tells the story is magnificent. He makes such a simple romantic story and makes it sweet and watchable, relatable, the dialogues are cute. It's the film more than Ranbir and Deepika. The little moments between Bunny and Naina make the film. Ranbir definitely brought a charm to Bunny's character, and thats why I think we can't imagine anyone else playing his character.

Naina is the more relatable character cuz there are many Naina's among us,who is ready to wait for yrs and yrs, for our one and only true love Bunny,while he is away conquering the world,finally gets bored hippie lifestyle and decide to cast an eye on the now modern,independent,sexy hence suddenly "not so boring" Naina😆
