Was YJHD a Blockbuster only because of Ranbir ?

Many people state that YJHD proved Ranbir's starpower and he was the main reason it was a BB.

Its not YJHD but besharam - Terrible trailer, new heroine, terrible music yet it collected 20cr on day one

YJHD had Dpad, pair and superhit music which created huge buzz.

No film is a huge hit 'cos of one actor. Film needs to be entertaining.

Ranbir's Badtameez Dil video added a lot of buzz as well. He came from 100 cr hit in Barfi and both his films had 20 cr opening after that.

Besharam had none of that you mentioned still opened to 20 cr. It was only on RK's shoulders.

Star power can give openings, film sustains on its own merit.

It was bb becoz of its new concept, catchy song, lead pair, side actor, a kjo movie...ranbir has still long way to go to mke a movies BB of his own

nahh, i have watched that movie... It's not RK's best, have to admit... Deepika has overshadowed him nicely in the movie... i don't even know why YJHD became such a big hit...i think it clicked because of several factors including exes coming together after such a public breakup so ppl were curious, music was good..and probably teenagers could relate to its romance...deepika ranbir acting in promotions like they are getting back etc😆..it was entertaining enough..but it is still a mystery why it was a big hit...but then in a country where kick, ETT can become blockbusters, any movie can😆.
it didn't impress me in any way..except badtameez dil song.

BUT i have to admit that i am not into this kinda romcom movies... if there is BV and YJHD in theatre on the same day, i will enter BV door without thinking once😆

not solely because of ranbir...it was an all round really nice movie...all elements, story, music, cast etc worked nicely

Decent romcom + good looking pair with decent/ good chemistry + good ensemble cast + brilliant music + great production values + aggressive promotions = sure-shot blockbuster 😆

P.S. The film was not extraordinary but i don fault Ranbir for doing it cos you cant expect him do a Barfi or Rockstar every single time..I'd rather see him play Bunny now than 10 years later when he looks a lil too old to play a quintessential Bollywood hero..And i could still see Ayaan's touch in a few scenes..The second half was haphazard & disappointing mainly because it was coming after Wake Up Sid yet i'l maintain Ayaan is a brilliant writer..He din bother much cos he really wanted BO success this time 😆

Not really number of factors plays an important role! Script etc etc.
If it was because of Ranbir than every movie of him would be a hit!
