Shah Rukh Khan third time lucky: Happy New Year makes its way to Oscar library

It looks like celebrations, for Happy New Year cast are all set to double up. The film has not only garnered big numbers at the box office race but it has become one of the few films to be part of the prestigious Oscar library.

Farah Khan, the choreographer-turned-director announced on Twitter that the script of Happy New Year has reached the Oscar's library.

Recent report suggests, that the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has officially selected the screenplay of 'HNY' for its permanent Core Collection. Following this honour, the Oscar library will add the screenplay which is accessible to students, filmmakers, writers, actors and others from the field of cinema, for the purpose of research.

Shah Rukh's earlier films like Devdas and Chak De! India were also selected for Oscar Library. While Happy New Year, starring Deepika Padukone Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah, is his third film for this honour.

The film which released this Diwali has minted over Rs 350 crore worldwide so far.

After the bumper success of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Happy New Year", filmmaker Farah Khan has one more achievement to add to it. The movie's script has been included into the Oscars library.

The filmmaker took to social networking website Twitter to share her joy and delight over the news and thanked her co-writers for penning the script. The heist drama, with dollops of dance and music, minted Rs.108.86 crore, becoming a movie with the biggest opening weekend at the box office in India.

Farah Khan is one of the few female directors to carve a niche for herself with a number of successful films like "Main Hoon Na" and "Om Shanti Om". The filmmaker will be attending the closing ceremony of the 20th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) Monday to showcase and emphasise women's power.
