How many of you think Saagarika is right in her Point.

According to me I find little stubbornness in her. Keeping Amma's ego and insecurity aside, there is this view that an Orthodox Bhramin cannot eat or drink in a place where Non-Veg is cooked, off course the situation will be different when he/she has to eat in a restaurant where no body knows how the meal is cooked. I think Sag's is a little bit haste. Bring in your views guys.

I think we can give correct solution for this cross culture situation.

A veg,non- veg families' lunch /dinner meeting will never be a simple issue to handle ...many an unintended consequences occurr ,for some time after an event of such occation , especially an unwelcome one ! Strong feelings involved in such matters ...and one has to tackle such a situation with great maturity !Ammaji is showing her immaturity and egocentric attitude in every occasion ,so expecting a positive reaction from her in this issue is a farfetched anticipation !Yes ..I am a vegetarian , came from an orthodox Brahmin family ...but after marriage ,have to go for Lunch and Dinners in the corporate world , and have to arrange many at my home too ,He and his kids eat ,but not me ! Yes ..small reservations and restrictions apply only to him ,where it will not appear to the outside world !
Life is the continuous adjustment of internal relations to external relations ! There may be some difficulties during such period of adjustment ...but have to ,if not ,life will leave us behind and will slip many happy occasions from our grip /lip /cup !
Insisting Ammaji ,Sags did the right thing ,if not ,it will create another issue ,such as ''my Dil is not bothering about me ''--Now the ball is in Ammaji's court ,and let her do what ever she wants ! A tactical insistence from Sagarika !!!

I think Sagarika was right to insist that Ammaji come to her father house. Especially since he said he will take care that all the food will be prepared the way they eat it. So, why it is hard to show a bit of good will?? I believe it is a delicate thing, but I always thought, where there is a will, there is a way as well...I think Ammaji use this as an excuse not to go, to show once again how she is not happy with her son choice.

Anybody insults me, I can deal with it, but if insult my family I take it personally and it will be hard for me to forgive the person.

Sagarika can take insults but insulting her father will hard for her to digest.

I am a vegetarian and I have friends who are all non-veg. They know I am veg and they do cook veg meal whenever I visit them.

My neighbors are Americans and they invite me for Thanks Giving, I take rice and beans with me and eat with them😆

Pallavi ...happy to see you here ! Yes a sort of self -respect type ...pride and confidence in ones' parents ; a feeling that one is behaving and expecting with honor and dignity ! It is always a daughter's prerogative to safegaurd her parents' pride in her inlaws place !!

people like Amma need someone to stand up to them... time for someone in that family to drop Amma on her ass... and they all should go do what they want and ignore her completely... let her taste what it feels like when the other person doesn't give a damn about your feelings...😡

My mothers's family was purely vegeterain...they would not even eat onion and garlic 😕
and my dad's family is a carnivore 😆😆
I am like me dad 😉

Whenever my granny visited us mom used to keep seperate utensils for her.She used to make her veg food seperately...Granny also adjusted as long as her dietery habist were not being compromised.

Amma is being too fussy...and she is behaving like a typical ladkewali...😡
I can bet if her daughter gets married into a non vegeterian and thye invite her foor dinner she wont dare to insult them like this...Afterall tht will be daughter's sasural 😡
hipocrate woman !!😡
