I am very happy, says soon to be dad Sonu Niigam

Despite all the controversy surrounding Sonu Niigam these days (enough has been written about it), the singer says he is very happy with the way things are panning out for him in his personal life. Currently in the US, Sonu says that he is ready to welcome his first child and can't wait to begin this new phase in this life.

"It is without a doubt a very important phase of my life. But to be honest I wasn't very sure about whether I wanted to be a dad. Although I love kids, I also know that fatherhood is a very big responsibility," says Niigam, "Sometimes this world can be very nice and then it can be equally ugly too. So I always questioned whether I was ready to make my child go through all of this? But I guess God wanted to gift me this pleasure too and therefore I am very happy and excited."

He adds that his happiness has translated into his music as well. "My new album will reflect this happiness of becoming a dad. You will notice how much I have changed. How happy I am…. And how I am looking forward to my life once again…"

Speaking about the news that has been making headlines back home, Sonu says that he had no choice but to speak up. "See where Subhash K Jha is concerned I am sure I'm one of the thousands who have suffered this treatment from him. I have recently come to know from some of my seniors that from the time he came ('84-'85) in he has been harassing people. I came to know about his tastes when I met him for the first time in 2001 - 2002. He talks a lot of cheap things during conversations and tries to embarrass people I guess. I don't know but all I can says is that people normally don't say the kind of things he told me. If we entertained all this then we were very good friends of his and if we didn't then he starts behaving like a scorned lover."

Sonu continues, "I felt all this dirt of this person that the entire industry is already aware of had to be shown to the rest of the people. They had to know that there are certain people who mix their profession and professional angst to such a large extent that they can't differentiate between their professional and personal demands. He has brought so much shame to his profession that it was time someone opened their mouth and told the world what was happening. Someone should have stood up to him a long time ago. No one did so I said maybe it is in my destiny to tell people about this man whether it's for my good or bad. I don't really care," he adds.

So does he feel vindicated now?

"Of all the people who spoke in support of what I have said, I have only spoken to Abhijeet Bhattachrya about this. I consider this battle only mine. I don't need anyone's support and if they are speaking in my support I am obliged but I have not asked a single person to stand up and speak with me. What I know is that this man has behaved very badly with me and I will not leave this guy for a long time now if he doesn't learn his lessons and apologise to me," says an upset Sonu.
