Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan as Ram Lakhan

Several names have been bandied about as possible leads for Karan Johar's production of Ram Lakhan, the remake of the 1989 musical, which has Rohit Shetty as director. Buzz is, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan have been cast in the lead roles.

Says the source, "Karan has decided to cast Sid as the no-nonsense cop, Ram (originally played by Jackie Shroff) and Varun will play the cheeky Lakhan (played by Anil Kapoor)."

Varun, who grew up watching Anil Kapoor's comic antics in his father David's films Biwi No 1, Deewana Mastana and Andaz, is said to be super-excited about bagging the iconic role. And Sidharth seems perfect for the role of Ram.
