Hate on Ruq - A Perception

Hi Friends,

First of all this is in no way an analysis of character of ruq or what prompts her to do. This is just a perception on what could be the reason for this overwhelming disgust on a character in ja serial.

Villains are not new to ja .In fact villains rule ja. We have even seen an epic saga of villain in form of maham..The chilling demeanor with which maham killed jalal's unbord child and yet went scot free and compared with that ruq has not done anything to that level legally if not ethically. Yet the level of disgust we feel for ruq even exceeds that of maham.

Is it because her character is not consistent or say well defined?

Though this could be a reason as her character was never shaped to be a true villain nor a person of respect, I couldn't see it as the most important factor. Her character from the beginning has all shades of grey and we were aware that in due course she could be either be redeemed or changed to villain to fit in according to the story and in those initial days even during Benazir track when jo was made to stand outside her hojra for the whole night the dedication and loyalty shown by jo always preceded the contempt for ruq and she never invoked any feelings.

Is it because we couldn't accept polygamy?

The storyline is set on a polygamous setup, though personally I couldn't understand this polygamy being shown.as far I had read or even heard where it is practiced it's always a norm that the first wife respects and treats others as sisters. Since the character has been setup as grey we couldn't expect respect or fairness, but my expectation was at least minimum etiquette to be followed like respecting each other's privacy .Not only in polygamy, in polyandry too when private moments are shared the other husband or wife never enters the space. And I couldn't deny the fact this intrusion of privacy was disgusting to me personally.

Another important reason I see for the disgust is when the other villains have been in some way instrumental to bring in ja closer, she is the one who intruded in most important moments of ja life .Ultimately the journey is only of ja and so we wish to see these moments in an unintrusive way.

The ruq tent scene on kajal badri track, their beautiful reunion when they first acknowledge their feeling for each other with that first hug we get camera zooming on ruqs face and we got to see all her reactions when it should have truly only be their private moments and just about them. Not to mention the disastrous ruq fake preg track when we got endure all her screeching, planning etc .. In all that the most disgusting was after sr there was not one single moment that doesn't end with ruqs interruption in some form and there were times when ja scene starts, I was only expecting when will the interruption come and made all those scenes bland. And even after all that ruq went scot free which is also not new to ja as maham has been like that for so long and she could have even become tolerable if her relationship had been maintained in the way when she spoke to jalal in mirchi track. But alas we get again her this time in the most precious moment the decalartion of jalal being a father. We expected to see a pure blissful moment with each other sharing their happiness. Instead it was ruq who informed him. To complete this disgust is the child sharing. A child is a sensitive issue to all of us and a love between a mother and a child is always so selfless and considered most precious and to make it as a business deal is the most disgusting act of her and have forever put her in the most hated of the villains list.

For some reason, despite being exposed to same traumatic situations as Akbar and handling a harem full of women, quite a many of them much older than her, Ruqaiya isn't mature enough.

She is crass and delusional. Is highly irritating. The class she had earlier has completely vanished due to her insecurity. She needs to resurrect herself and none can help her, except she herself. Jalal can only give her promises of fellowship not love. He can never understand what Ruqaiya is going through because Ruqaiya links her relationship to Jalal very closely to power and prestige. She sure loves him in own quirky way but that love is parasitcally, tied to her love for power too. To any second person, it seem she loves power and thus, she loves Jalal due to his power. Just like that she has attached herself to Hussein. No doubt she has motherly feelings for him but they are so wound around her love for MUZ title too.

She herself can't differentiate between the two but her love for power has always weighed more.

prav i really like ur povs as u present them with maturity and sensibility..in this case i would say that cvz have butchered the norms of polygamy to the T..no one would ever interfere with emperor's privacy and who he sleeps with was entirely his decision and all the first wife and being harem incharge would have done was made arrangements for it..i am sure there must have been politics being played around and even if the real ruk was schematic she would have done so with grace and intelligence and not like ott drama shown in the show!

Thanks mandy.I agree with you that the norms of polygamy is completely butchered in form of NR and saddest part is it doesn't serve any purpose too other than creating complete disgust.

Just to prove one good cvs made one complete vamp.well the real rukiya was grown in a polygamy set up im sure she knew where she stood with akbar in his life,i dont think she was like what we see on the show.i have never read nor seen such haterade for any character of any show but i must say hate is just a small word to say about rukiyya, its shame cvs have disgrace her to T,by putting desclaimer doesnt change much, some people will actually believe she was such evil person. Here a girl was married at nine years of age, jalal was the only friend she had.she believed no matter how many girls he married she will always control him ,but jodha changed everything not to mention the first meeting with jodha wasnt very nice, now rukiya has lost everything her friend husband and now to be a mother, yeah power hungry title grabber whatever cvs want to show.now she doest want to loose this chance with hussain hes all she has,to get her lost glory trogh this baby, there must have been a reason why akbar gave khurram to rukiyya out of pity yah to make up to her ,for all the pain he gave her by maring so many times.history is a big mystery,nd of the day he was her husband he must have felt somthing for her, soory for the long rant but had to get this off my chest

The reel Ruqaiah
Reel Ruqaiah loved audha and power more than jalal. Jalal himself is to be blamed he always said I have no heart and kept her away so she strated loving audha and BEK instead of husband and friend jalal. Now Akbar moved on and found love not with her but jodha and Ruqaiah has only baby to clutch on too. See while taking Hussein she said I took away the one you love most like you took away my jalal so its pure souten jealousy reason for taking child not love of muz or bek first. Its pure souten revenge on jodha.
Real Ruqaiah
This is complex character much more than reel. Because we do not know real ruqaiah from any books. All jehangir says is Akbar loved her more than any wife so gave her khurram to bring up and she loved khurram more than a real mom. jehangir himself respected her and may be loved her too because he went to visit hindal grave with her and khurram after becoming emperor leaving all his work. Akbar never did this or even if he did does not mention it?
Akbar gave khurram to her now may be under pressure like people say but fact is he gave her khurram. If a salima or anyone else would he have given I doubt? Because he know very well salim and jodha shall not like it yet he gave. So why did he give because he loved her or he felt guilty of marrying 300 and betraying her may be?? When you start growing old you analyse your life and start wanting to correct mistakes you did especially towards your loved ones all do that. I do not believe that ruqaiah put too much pressure on akbar to give khurram to her because the real Akbar gave a damn to any pressure actually no one would dare pressure him. Secondly khurram was given to her within 6 days of birth after ruqaiah came to know that court astrologer said he will be a great emperor that his father and grand dad. So what great pressure can ruqaiha put(even if she can which I do not believe she would dare to real Akbar going by his nature) in 3-4 days that Akbar risked salim's disapproval and anger. Salim already was disgruntled with him and had issues now one more grave issue Akbar want to give to spoil his relation with salim? not really. Yet he gave khurram to her means either he feel very guilty or love her a lot as friend if not as lover.
Thirdly all three emperors be it Akbar, jehangir or khurram respected and loved her as can be seen from their actions why? no one can say truly but its a fact they loved and respected her very much. If she was crazy like in serial would they bear her three strong headed male emperors I do not think so.
And finally real ruqaiah would never dare act possessive of khurram and keep him away from even his father salim like shown in serial. Else salim who could dare disobey Akbar shall also dare disobey her and take back khurram would he not? But salim let it be even after he became emperor so he was sort of okk with khurram being with ruqaiah no matter what he felt inside his heart. Atleast he had reconciled with the fact long back that khurram belonged to ruqaiah more than him and jodha. That is why although khurram was not taught anything about his mom religion his grand mom religion still jehangir let it be. Every parent will desire his child should know their religion but khurram did not practice his mom religion and festivals. It must have hurt his parents but they let it be as it was ruqaiah's decision that he only know her religion not his mom and grand mom(and even 50% jehangir his dad's religion) religion. So ruqaiah had lot of say in upbringing of khurram than salim, jodha or Akbar because all three would want khurram to know about his mom religion and follow their festival celebrations at least because all three followed both religions.
