I think it's NOT that people are NOT patriotic,so they are not joining Army and everyone wants to Earn money so they are becoming Engineers and Doctors. It's only that people really don't have the exposure towards Armed Forces. How many of us Have or Had the exposure to various career oppurtunities after 10th standard.I think it's only after 10th standard ,we need to make the choice of the a stream (Science,Maths,Arts, commerce).Every one opt for Maths/Science bcoz they are Everlasting and established ones.People really don't have exposure to other than these two.And the competion, pressure on the students at that age are high. How many of us had an oppurtunities to attend an NCC or become Scouts and Guides in schools? I fear that these days nobody knows about such things.Schools and colleges are only bothered about there no. of ranks students get and institutions they get into.Educational instituions should guide the students in choosing various career options other than Engineeing and Medicine.
One of the members commented that people choose engineering and Medecine for the sake of pay packages they get and don't want to join Army for the hardships they have to face.I would like to Say one thing in this regard.Every profession has it's hardship. The stress of a job, both mentally and professionaly remains same in any profession.A newspaper reported that a very young IT professional died of heart attack bcoz of the professional stress. And if U talk about the packages they get,Army people get the consessions every where, where as a comman doesn't.So basicaly more or less all are leading same kind of life.
I don't even think that it's fear of death that people stop joining in the Army.DEATH is a undebatable topic. If one has to die he will die sitting in his office or on the Border.
I strongly feel it's only non exposure towards that field. It's not just about Armed Forces, even other fields. It's nowhere shown on the main stream channels or Cinema.Except for the stupid Saas-Bahu sagas(courtesy EKTAKAPOOR) and Love Stories(courtesy KARANJOHAR)we get nothing to see on the main stream channels. There was a time when there would some good documentaries telecasted on various issues on DD.
And to be patriotic one doesn't need to Join the Armed Forces,we can server the country being citizens.I would really love to watch some program/serial that catches the trivial issues like corruption(Tagore, a Telugu movie),AIDS(Phir Milenge,Hindi movie),Career Oriented programmes,Poverty..etc and also show some solutions as well so that atleast few people get inspired by them.Bcoz if we want to change the country it can't be done by a single person,it should be a FORCE.As Captain Rajveer said,U should remain in the system to change the System.

I just want to start another topic of discussion in this post.Hope u guys don't mind, specially amail.
Now a days we hear a lot abt army officers killing their colleagues or seniors. Now this is definitely a problem. Is there no more unity among army men?If army men kill each other like this then what will happen to our country when enemies will attack us? There is a phrase"United we stand,Divided we fall."If there will be no feeling of unity and brotherhood within the army then definitely enemies will take advantage of this.So who is to be blamed for this?I am writing this b'coz I am coming across many such incidents in the last few months abt soldiers killing other soldiers.
Another thing I want to say that there is also a rise in the number of women army officers commiting suicide. This is also a very serious issue. As we all agree that women also can become good soldiers but the main thing is to stay there. The main reason for suicide is depression. This might be due to personal as well as professional reasons too. There might also be ppl in the army like Nair who push and discourage women whenever they go forward. So can army realize the capabilities of women soon or will more and more women officers will give up their valuable lives like this?

Hey!! I don't mind...glad you want to extend it..😊

I agree...we had an English teacher last year, who's an army officer's wife..She discussed this thing with us..

Women....a few of them do enroll in the army, most are rejected...others are filtered out during training...the few who are left face so much pressure and discrimination from their seniors and colleagues, that either they rebel, or they go into depression, often taking extreme steps..

They also face pressure from their families....

Their colleagues defend themselves saying that women can't be sent on the Front or in delicate situations because they are weak...or can be misused by the enemy.. Agreed, but that doesn't explain why they should be ridiculed just on the basis of their sex.

Yahin to maar kha gaya India...sorry, dialogue chepa😳

No, but seriously, women are being discriminated against everywhere...in offices, at homes..They are supposed to perform well in offices, even better than the males....then after a tiring day at offuce they are expected to cook, wash clothes, clean the house, help the kids with homework, serve their in-laws, entertain guests, and look well-groomed n polished..

Even then, working girls(or girls in general) are not accepted without dowries, and are looked at as if they do something wrong by working..yet people want educated daughter-in-laws...

They just want educated, idle daughter-in-laws..

Har cheez mein discrimination..

Ever read Arthur Hailey's 'Strong Medicine'???????? If you haven't, do get it n read..

U r right and this is what I don't like abt India.Actually not only in India even in thedeveloped countries like UK and USA gender discrimination in some form or other is still prevalent.
