But isn't that completely the people's choice and opinion? They certainly haven't asked for a concensus - at least not in this thread or any that I have read. And anyways, it's not like what they say is the law. Plus, she isn't the only actress who has such fans. Rani fans think she's the best, Preity fans think Preity's the best, Shilpa fans think she's the best - doesn't make it right or the truth.

ash has worked with sum of the best directors in bollywood, and still she has delieverd no power packed performance... arent ppl over rating her?... ppl think shes a great actress, and sum rate her as the best, no wonder she has worked with sum great directos...but whats the outcome... nothing!..... shes still in the industry, despite giving no superb performances for ages!... ppl praised her for her performance in devdas, where she wasnt all that great... madhuri was way better than her, yet, ppl appreciatred what ash did more... then she cud have done a great job in raincoat, yet, she was expressionless and was nominated for her role in that film in various awards' show ??? she was even nominated foir her role in dhoom 2???.. i mean what on earth, what special thing did she do in dhoom 2..... the fact is, sum do consider her a great actrees and therefore tend over rate her! she is not known for her acting, yet ppl still call her a fine actress and display her performances from films like provoked, hddcs, choker bali and raincoat to defend her position as an actress!.... she gets offers from hollywood, and she gets good roles as well, but she ends up destroying it all! if that isnt over rating sumone then what is it?...

Rest assured, she hasn't been given much credit either. No one has said she was "good" even in the films with good directors. Her fans do, but isn't that what fans of any actor do? I have never seen her being showered with awards or appreciation from critics, so honestly by what means is she over-rated. If you are talking about fans, they are not rating her, but are merely liking her for the way she is. Okay, the thing about awards, I do not have faith in awards of any kind any more. They are hardly credible unless it's the National awards but who is to vouch they aren't rigged? Awards hardly prove anything. Having more or less awards doesn't make one a better or worse actor/actress. So what if she was nominated? Her performance was not appreciated by the masses! And it's not like the one who truly deserved the award got it. Ayesha Takia in true means deserved the award for Dor. Ash gets roles from Hollywood because she's a known face on the international platform because of her beauty not because of her acting prowess so how is she over-rated? She is pretty - beautiful to some - enchanting to some and magnificent to some. Everyone doesn't have to share one opinion.

in that sense, u can see where im getting at... shes not known for her acting, and if she is then a few of her starting films have proved that, if one analyzes her in this way one can tell that she is over rated... and i dont think beauty has anythin to do with being a great actress, but shes rather known for her beauty than her acting!

Mini, I know you weren't talking to me....but I agree with what you said about Aish being nominated for D2, I think instead it woul dhave been better if she was nominated for Umrao Jaan, I never saw the old UJ...but I did like Aish's UJ. But the good thing is Aish never won for D2, but the bad thing is that if Aish shouldnt have been nominated for D2, then how come Rani won for KANK. It was unbelieveable that Rani won for KANK over Bipz, who I think delievered the best performance in 2007 with Corporate. Like I said that Aish should have been nominated for UJ, that same way it would have been better than Rani should have been nominated for Babul instead, even tho I didnt like KANK or Babul

your absolute right here. i don't agree with her nomination in dhoom 2 either......but she definitely should've got some sort of recognition for umrao jaan. she was great in it.
