If the widow/widower has baggage, and cannot really move on in life without clearing out that baggage, then ofcourse it is bad for hir/him to remarry, because the new spouse will never get the complete attention and love as the widow/widower will be too caught up in her/his own past
That is what is wrong, nothing else - no social stigma or anything
I think if people have been married before, they probably make better spouses, as they have some experience of what to do and what not to do in a marriage, as long as they have no emotional baggage from the previous marriage, and can be in the 2nd marriage (mentally) whole-heartedly.
