b. I am simply suicidal with a death wish
sorry but i am neither of the above.
After a long time i am visiting IF & this forum. Reason total disillusionment with Hindi soaps.
Initially i hated indian soaps & especially hindi soaps tnx to Ekta maiyya. The serial which must not be named in IF was my 1st Hindi soap. My curiosity piqued i watched a few episodes of Geet on the net. Then a few episodes of Season 2 of the doomed show & finally a few of RR. Based on these experiences i again decided to veer clear off all Indian/Hindi soaps. My TV experience had come a full circle.
So why this boycott? Because i am completed disillusioned with the definition of romance in Indian TV. Based on all the above mentioned serials i ve listed out what constitutes as hot romance in hindi serials:
1. Hero must b tall & handsome, good physique.
2. Hero must b a caricature of the ANGRY YOUNG MAN (AYM) with a supposed past!!!!
3. Heroine must b the stereotypical stupid virgin teenager (SVT) whose IQ can rival a cuckoo & doesnt know anything birds & bees.
4. Sexual tension = manhandling + grabbing + shoving + pinning against the wall + catching + carrying the heroine
End result give the show a new name, new cast, new location but the plot is the same.
AYM hates girls -> stumbles across SVT -> fight -> manhandle -> AYM broods -> SVT bats eyelashes -> grab -> heaving chest -> unique BGM -> hate -> love -> hate -> love -> viewers die
Forget bt originality. There r so many classic love stories which can b easily adapted for Indian fans. Rebecca, Casablanca, It happened 1 night, Roman Holiday, Wuthering Heights, Pride & Prejudice...
The list goes on & on.
Prob is:
1. Channels scared to offend indian sensibilities by showing kiss, love making scenes.
2. Actors' reluctance to act in the above scenes
So its a sad impasse. Hence my argument simply ban these so called "ROMANTIC" serials & stick to only Kitchen politics. Discerning ppl can simply switch to movies or english serials to satiate their romantic desires!
